Okay, given I have zero comics budget, what's this fantastic ending everyone's talking about? And also, how good is this?

With Knight Errant ending, I may plan on getting this somewhere down the line, and want to know as much as I can about this series and how Vader (my all-time favorite villain, PERIOD) is portrayed. And I don't care about spoilers- they actually make me more excited for a work, most of the time. So spoil away! :p

Lord Vader and the Galactic Emperor have a cute bonding moment in #2. That's all you need to know.

The comic is awesome and is one of the best that I've ever read. The ending is dark, but also shows how awesome Darth Vader is.
After Vader and his crew end the coup with Palpatine personally frying Gentis, Tohm who became Vader's protege is promoted to admiral which sets up Vader meeting with Palpatine. Palaptine tells Vader that he admires a lot about Tohm and that if Vader should ever die, Tohm would be a worthy successor. Then Vader has Tohm meet him on the balcony and Vader asks him if Shonn Volta, a woman that Tohm became close to, accepted her new position as captain. Tohm says she did and that they're leaving the next day. Vader tells him that he only has one lesson for him. Tohm is excited that his mentor is going to give him more advice, but Vader's lesson is "Never suffer rivals" and throws him off the balcony. I felt bad for Tohm and was surprised, but it showed how awesome Vader was.
A lot more happens besides just that, but I thought it was a great series.

This series was absolutely amazing. Stellar in every sense of the word. Everything a Darth Vader comic is supposed to be, and more. It's now my favorite Star Wars comic, and THAT is saying something.

    I actually expected Vader to
kill the woman instead, just to teach him a similar lesson to the one he had

That would've been more fitting, I think.

Nothing would have been more fitting. This series is flawless. Except for that one thing.

    Holy.

    SOCKS.

Okay, count this one as a MUST BUY. THIS is the Vader I grew up on. [face_dancing]

EDIT: Okay, except for the lack of diversity thing, that is pretty sad.

It's been a lot of fun reading the issue threads on this as it started off as:

A new series from the team that brought you Darth Vader & The Lost Command! Net response: Uhhhh... yeah..... great.... just what I always wanted....

Issue #1 came out and net response: What the hell is this? It's actually good!

And the rest is history! I'm now convinced to buy the trade - if only DHC will actually say when they are releasing it!

I sure as hell hope they will revisit Shonn Volta later. I actually feel sorry for those inmates.

Sign of a good story: you get readers to say things like that.

We already have that in Empire.

Where would you fit an another Trachta story knowing that we know his fate?

Give me Kiro, Dash Rendar, Guri,Kyle Katarn or somebody else whose fate we do not know yet instead.
