I was always under the impression that the lightning completely fried the suit, but not Anakin himself. When Starkiller zaps him with lightning, he gets up and shrugs it off. When Palpatine does it, his suit completely shuts down. Per the ROTJ novel, we know that Anakin was one with the Force in that moment, to an almost omnipotent level (he's described as hearing and seeing things half a galaxy a way), so it's not inconceivable that he was able to do what he did without the suits influence.

On the original subject, though... I have to wonder why no one's tried an EMP strike on Vader? Hard to imagine he doesn't have some kind of defense for it, but if he did, that defense would pretty much have to be mechanical...

 

His suit shuts down because it is extremely powerful lightning as shown by the glowing bones. A non-Cyborg person would probably suffer a severe heart attack or internal organ failure due to the severe burns and also die.

It's pretty difficult to defend machinery from an EMP. But maybe it is possible? I don't know. If I were to assassinate Vader it would be one of the first things I'd try.

 

Actually, upon meditation, I withdraw my question. It's obvious that the power of the Glove would be more than enough to protect a True Believer like Vader from feeble weapons such as EMP grenades. I should be ashamed to voice such doubts.

 

why do i feel like this series is actually a passive aggressive call to arms against disney and their sudden buyout of star wars?

 

i realize i'm like a week or two late here but i just want to point out that "force lightning" is not, in fact, literally lightning

 

Even though I like Lost Command a lot I always found that part unrealistic.

Interesting. I wonder what the cover alien and the assassin will amount to in this arc.

I haven't finished ghost prison, but what I read was very interesting. I did like Lost Command or whatever it was called too.

 

I just finished this issue. Decent set-up; we'll see how the rest of the series goes. I'm already quite pleased with the repeated depictions of Vader that center on his crotch, though!
