have you tried spacing the armor itself some with pads off the top of your shoulders? to get it to look right with lid in place, i raised mine with pads velcroed under each shoulder spot so it raised mine a lil more than a inch up, and allowed room for extended neck to move under the armor in front, if you havent tried this, do it first, before you cut armor off. once thats done your stuck with it.

    hi, new member here.

I am just starting to construct my own Vader suit.

    So far, I have got:

    Darth Vader Rubies Fiberglass Helmet
Darth Vader ROTS Costume Leather SUIT - STAR WARS PROP from Lucas
    Fiberglass hardparts
    Belt
    Chestpiece

But I still need the boot.... can someone suggest a good place to get a good quality pair of Vader boot that is accurate to the screen? What do you think about the boot from this place? http://www.starfortressproductions.com/vader.html
Is it overpriced? Is there a cheaper alternative that is just as good?

    thanks

I have found that this type cell phone clip usually works:

    http://www.theclip.com/store/Reinforced-Swivel-Belt-Clip-764-p-16344.html

Fits on the bell shaped piece on my LE saber hilt.

STAY AWAY from starfortress, hes wanted for child porn in the USA, fled the country and is hiding out, but still tryin to sell his crap on ebay and his website. for right now, myself im using costume boots till i can afford a real leather pair for my vader. motorcitycowboy is where i want mine from, but theyre 600 bucks BUT, custom made to fit your feet.

oh and the place for convert parts for fx sabers, hasbro or MR is thecustomsabershop.com they have clips as well, the right kind like jedis used in the movies, you will have to use one for vader if your doin rots version, if not, then u will need the hook, and hang it by the shroud, but make sure shroud is metal, a resin wont hold up. mine has a metal one on a original heiland flash with a convert kit i got from a vendor, and a TCS soundboard installed

There are a lot of options for Darth Vader boots. MotorCowboy is one, Caboots is another. But if you are doing a Vader costume to just get in the door, or for something like a Halloween costume, those cheap vinyl knock-offs will work for the meantime.

Something like $36 and you have a cheap pair of boots. I've had these kind of boots on and off, and found that the soles will spearate and blow out after a few outings ( I think mine last six events, once ).

But like what already suggested, they are a cheap solution to getting the costume finished, until you can afford a nice pair of boots.

ive actually had better luck with the zip up side vinyl boots, mines lasted 4 years now, but are startin to mess up, the soles are fine, the shin armors lower point edge has finally ripped a small hole where it rubs. they can last longer if you take care of them between troops, clean then, use a protectant like armor all or such after each troop. i have, and they are still useable as of now, ive managed round 10 events over 4 years, and they still are useable, so even the cheapo boots can last a bit if you take measures to help them last longer.

Wife just bought me the Rubies Darth Vader Costume and a few questions.

    1. Does anyone have a diagram and spec sheet of your MP3 breathing setup..ie amp...speakers..placement and ect?

    2. What did you use to replace your mouth and chin screens....and/or use to make it to where you cant see through it?

    3. What steps are needed to make the mask/helemt more realistic...aside from buying a MR?

    3. Is there a website or link on where to get the supplies and how to make the needed changes to the Rubies costume to make it more real....ie the metal bars on the chest box....how to set the lights up and etc??

If you could help me out that would be awesome...even if it was on just a couple of my questions. Thanks again! Jake

My question goes out to all those using JBL On Tours with your suits. Are you removing the sliding case door that covers the speakers and if so how did you get it off without destroying it? I've looked everywhere for some dissasembly instructions and can't seem to find any. I'd prefer to have the doors off but really don't want to have to break them off in order to do it.

I still like the Vader Supreme for my once a year trek out with my daughters... this costume for the last 4 years or so has been perfect for me.

If Boba Fett is equal to this one... I might buy it, I have found it for $450 or less on some sites brand-new.

See the boba fett supreme costume thread. Short version: not even close. Better than the storm trooper, but not by much.

yes i take my covers off to use then replace when stored. theres a small tab you have to break on edge that keeps them from coming all way off, they can be slipped back on easily for storage.

Thanks for the tip Lan. I actually ended up finding a good tutorial for how to do it encased in an old Vortex 2 review video over on the Sith Training Temple. For others interested in how to remove the case on the JBL On Tours check out the first minute or so of this video.

I'm new here and I'm planning ahead for future Halloweens and it has been my dream to have myself a Darth Vader costume. I've used a homemade cape with some cheep child's Hasbro helmet for the past couple of years and I'm in serious need of an upgrade. I get good reactions from the kids but I still think its a sorry costume.

I'm a dad so spending a small fortune ($1,000+) on a costume is not an option however I have some issues with the Rubie's Supreme costume. The helmet seems massive but I'm having a difficult time finding anything else. This site (Official Star Wars Costumes.com) has a Vader costume but does not state that it is a Rubie's costume. Does anyone know if it is in fact a Rubie's? I only ask so that I know if reviews of Rubie's costume apply. Also, in the description it states that it comes with an "oversized Darth Vader supreme edition mask". Does this mean that it is intentionally larger than it should be? I'm slightly confused by that wording.

the rubbies supreme lid is based off a ESB lid and not even the correct lid for the style costume theyre trying to sell which is supposed to be ROTS. if your looking for something just to halloween in or party then rubbies is fine, just beware the sauna suit they supply will toast your buns and sweat you to death. i started off with one but now all has been swapped out for aftermarket high quality stuff. i used a phased cooling vest underneath the sauna suit that barely made wearing it for 3 hours tolerable. so just be forewarned you wont last long in it. install fans in the lid too, or youll die from heat as well.
