CT Darth Vader's Lightsaber Colour Change

Does anyone know why DV's lightsaber changes colour in this scene?


After he throws it, it turns from red to purple.

 

It changes color from pinkish to orange-ish and back in TESB. May be special effects errors.

 

It was a mistake.

 

Which version is it off? Could be bad/inconsistent colour correction.
It's not really a consistent colour between the films though, so could just be a mistake.

 

always been that way. even in the pt sabers can change color a little.

 

It's blink and you miss it, really. Not a big deal for me.

The saber effects in the ROTJ duel in general seem a bit off. I'm glad the 2011 edition fixed them for the most part, but in that same clip, Vader's saber is seeming a bit thin as it gets to the tip of the blade. It's likely just a case of the difficulty of rotoscoping, but tbh, I hardly even notice it really

 

It's better than in the 2004 (I think) DVD edition, where likes blade appears to go through Vader's.

 

^ Yep, that's in the 2004 edition. For the Blu-ray, their goal was to have the lightsabers appear the way they did on the big screen back in the day. That's something they'd never really translated properly to home video formats before. As I've come to understand it, at least.
