Hello everyone....I'm new to the board, but a huge star wars fan. I would like to give each and every one props on how great everyones' artwork looks. Wow. My area is mainly drawing, but I have created two works I would like to share in painting and scratchboard. I need a lot more work in both, but I'm pleased with the results. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

    Welcome, DarthVogt! :D

You have a nice handling with the paint brush in the Darth Maul piece. I like the overall tone and the details are quite nice. Nice job!

And wow! I love the scratch board piece! I have to give you a lot of credit for that one, scratch board is not an easy medium to work with and you've done an outstanding job!

    Hi DarthVogt!

Scratchboard? Wow! Your talents are amazing! I can't believe how you did that. Vader looks awesome! I could have never done that.

Hope to see more from you soon!

Thanks for the kind comments. I really am happy with the scratchboard. I hadnt worked on one for about 13 years....Art I my freshman year. I included a drawing collage that I just completed freehand. Im pretty happy with it. The quality of picture isnt very good...looks a little better and darker in person.

Hello DarthVogt! It's great to see new artists joining the forum, and your work is really wonderful! The Darth Maul piece is gorgeous--moody, dark and a terrific likeness; that scratchboard piece made my eyes water, just looking at all the detail you managed to bring out! Awesome!! The "collage," with Anakin, Palpatine, Obi Wan and Vader is most excellent, in tone and composition, and I also like the Emperor/Vader piece, too! Your paintings--are they watercolor or oils...? They look very rich, like oils, with beautiful brushstrokes... VERY nice start on your gallery--thank you for sharing your work with us here! :D

Thanks for the kind comments. Actually in response to your question the paintings are done in Acrylic. My area is more drawing, but I am starting to paint more. I had the idea for the palpatine work for a while now, but I thought it was going to be a drawing. I had an itch to paint, so thats what I did.

The idea behind this drawing is showing Palpatine as, "Master of Puppets", I got the idea off youtube. I think it turned out ok...I drew it on 18"x24" paper. I think I could have added a little more realism in the smaller characters such as dooku if I would have went w/ larger paper. Oh well i think it turned out ok.

Wow, that's a cool concept, and scary too! I love the way you did Palpatine's skin, he looks realistically old and haggard; the figures at the bottom look amazing too, despite them being small, they turned out great! :D

I also like Maul in your first post, a beautiful painting, it's so moody and intense.

    Looking forward to more!

    Palpatine the Puppeteer! [face_laugh]

That's a nice idea, being that he really did pull all the strings. And the picture itself is very well drawn, good likeness' and all.

And the pictures of Maul and Vader in the first post are amazing. Very good colours on Maul.

Hello everyone....this is my attempt at a bust of Darth Vader. It is a little rough right now, but Im pretty pleased with the overall look. It is almost 6" tall. I took a picture now because I am going to finish cleaning it up the next few days....and hope it survives the kiln.....

I just gotta say, each and every piece is amazingly done.

Oh, and the painting with the Emporer with Vader in his hand, is a very cool concept.

Wow, I can't believe I missed this thread before!! I love your art :)

I'm especially drawn to the last one - being a ceramics fan myself, I can appreciate how much work went into that (and the hope that it won't explode ;) ).

Thanks for the kind comments on the last two pieces......Im pretty pleased w/ everything for the most part. I really enjoyed making the master of puppets drawing. Now w/ the bust, Im just worried that the bust wont survive. Starting today I am going to let it dry out. Im not sure what I am going to do after it is fired. I first thought about glazing it black, but my brother thought it would lose detail. I may spray paint it w/ a glossy black, and then spray a clear coat over it. Is there any suggestions? I have never done that before.

Yeah, depending on how thick the black glaze is, you could lose some of the detail.

My suggestion would be just maybe painting a couple coats of the glaze on. That way you can control how think it is better than if you just dunk it in a bucket.

I finished my Vader sculpture...I included a frontal view, holding it, and profile view. The pictures don't really do it justice. I decided against glazing, and used
spray paint....I primed, used glossy black, and then for added precaution used a clear coat. I think it worked out....

Those are some outstanding paintings you've done, especially Darth Maul. Great job on the the helmet sculpture! That's quite awesome. Do you have plans to do any more?
