    Don't see this up already.

A lot of you are too young to know how strange and unexpected the original Letterman show was when it first aired.
There were only three networks so it was about broad appeal but then here's a guy in the middle of the night (to a kid like me) throwing fruit off of buildings and getting into feuds with the celebrities that kind of show was supposed to basically just worship.

Must see a taping before the end.

His sense of humor retired about fifteen years ago. Late Night has slowly devolved into a daily reenactment of Chevy Chase's infamous talk show.

Craig Ferguson has a Scottish accent. And nothing is funnier than a Scottish accent.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Jay Leno will be a guest before the show wraps.

    I remember when that aired.

Personally I believe Letterman got boring after he started wearing slacks and fancy shoes. Khakis and sneakers Letterman ftw! Not sure when Chris Eliot departed the show, but that's another marker.

There was this hilarious Rosie Perez interview from years ago that I haven't been able to find again. That will always be my best memory of Letterman.
    - Pacino spits!
    - mmmyou're no Pacino... [face_talk_hand]

My second favourite memory is when Tom Cruise was on to promote Collateral:

I remember when Connie Chung asked him if he had ever had the hump of a camel.

He was like, "No, I have never had the hump of a camel. But in my younger days I was quite good."

I've always liked him more than Leno. So there's that.

So I applied for tickets and it's like trying to see the wizard.

You can only apply once every 6 months (!) and only for the month you're in. So if by some miracle I got tickets I would have to 'then' make immediate plans to get to NYC.
Oh well, if I don't get a call (you need to answer a random trivia question even if they call you) I will at least save a pretty penny.

My question is, with this be a Carson retirement (he stays out of the limelight and maintains his privacy) or a Streisand retirement (he frequently returns for special one-time-only appearances)?

He's so famously reclusive I don't think we'll see much of him after.

In spite of somethings, he really wasn't bad. Rather good, actually.
