Jade51999- Most of the country is suffering a heat wave.

Well, here's the start of the fan-fic I found the other night. I started in in May of 98, and other than changing a few small things tonight, it hasn't been worked on for 3 years.

I hope it isn't too disappointing!

Suggestions, comments, corrections are appreciated!

It's starts with Bria's letter to Han near the end of Paradise Snare....

Dearest Han,

You don?t deserve for this to happen, and all that I can say is I?m sorry. I love you, but I can?t stay. . .

Everyday I wonder if I?m going to snap and take the next ship back to Ylesia. I?m afraid I?m not strong enough to resist. But I must resist. I must face the fact that I am addicted to the Exultation, and I must fight this addiction. I?ve been leaning on you for strength, but that?s not good for either of us. You need all your strength and determination to pass those tests and make it through the Academy.

Please don?t abandon your dream of becoming an officer Han. Don?t be afraid to use the money I left. My father gave it to us freely, because he likes you, and is grateful to you. Like me, he recognizes that you saved my life. Accept his gift, please. We both want you to succeed.

I?ve learned so much from you. How to love, how to be loyal and brave. I?ve also learned how to find people who will help me change my identity, so don?t bother looking for me. I?m going away, and I?m going to beat this addiction. I?m going to do it if it takes my last measure of strength and courage.

You?ve been free all your life, Han. And strong. I envy you for that. I?m going to be free someday, too. And strong.

Maybe then we can meet again.

With that, Bria Tharen put down the stylus, folded the flimsy, and stuck it in Han?s jacket. She grabbed her stuff and quickly left their room. ?Goodbye Han,? she whispered as she quietly closed the door.




Bria had to leave Coruscant as soon as possible. If she didn?t, she knew Han would find her. She?d never be able to leave him if he did.

Before she could leave though, she needed some fake Ids. She hopped on the nearest shuttle and rode it all the way to level 132. Bria stepped out, and stepped out to find the dingy Glow Spider Han and described. The streets, if you could call them that, all crossed in an insane maze. Luckily, she was finally able to locate megablock17, block 5, subblock 12.




She had never wanted to return to that horrible, smoke-filled bar, but she needed help. Bria went inside and asked one of the humanoid bartenders for a man called Nici the Specialist.

?Do you want to buy something, or are you here to sell?? the bartender asked, giving her the once-over.

?Buy, but I want so speak to Nici, personally.? she answered coolly.

The man shrugged. ?I see. I?ll let him know you?re here and that you?re looking for him.? the bartender told her as he fixed a drink for another customer.

Bria found a booth and sat down to wait.




Hours later, a short, fat man walked up to her.

?I?m Nici,? the man said. ?I hear you got a job for me.? Nici said as he looked her over.

Bria tried not to show it, but his gaze disturbed her. This man could be dangerous, she knew. Still, she needed IDs.

?Yes. I need a couple of fake Id. Ones that will stand up to Imperial scanners.? she informed him crisply.

?That?s what I deal in, sister.... but it?ll cost ya.? Something in his tone told her he was interested in a form of payment she wasn?t about to give.

Bria knew her suspicions were confirmed when he went to put a hand on her. ?Don?t touch me!? She said, stepping away. ?I?m prepared to play, with credits, when I see my IDs.?

Nici looked surprised. He wasn?t used to being told what to do. ?All right,? he said. ?I?ll get them for you, but it will take an hour. And I need a

 

That was great, Bria! It was perfectly in tune with Bria and the situation that took place in the book.

You'll figure it out when you're ready. Perhaps what happened to her afterwards. Her failed attempts to rejoin that cult and so on.

Hmmm... that's an idea. I just I wish we knew more of what happened between her leaving at the end of PS and when she's on Devoron in THG...

For a title... which sounds better? I orginally had titled it Survival, but I'm not so crazy about it anymore. I could also call it That Which Makes Us Who We Are, which was the title of a fan-fic about Luke I abadoned (it was *bad*), but could fit here. The other thing is that that title is somewhat of a mouthful....

"I'm afraid I've been thinking (a dangerous past-time, I know)" thing on last page??? What is wrong with these people??? Don't they watch Beauty and the Beast??? Sheesh. Some folks.

Oh, and yes, that was from Beauty and the Beast. I think I've also thown in a line or two from the Lion King (my fav. disney animated) on these boards before.

Sorry I've been AWOL lately... life has been busy. I've been dealing with the necessary evil of over-the-summer homework for my Advanced Placement classes, as well as working as a volunteer at a day camp my parents run for children with developmental disabilities... so I haven't had much time to post lately. But I digress...

Ooh, another fic by Bria about Bria! It doesn't get much better than that. Excellent job so far, and don't worry if you don't know where to take it right now... sometimes letting the story lead to wherever it ends up going is half the fun. (lol, I think that last sentence made more sense in my head than it did when I typed it... it's late.)

Great job on the fic, Bria! Like someone said before, i think you should write about her failed attempts to rejoin the cult and also i think you should write about how she joined the Alliance and how she got to be commander of red hand squadron. I've really enjoyed it so far, so whatever direction you decide to take it in is going to be great.

Good Start, Bria. Sorry I havent' really joined the club. It's nothing against you personally! Darth Real Life hasn't given me much of a break. But I will try to keep up on the story!

I made some Bria icons today, too. Let me know what you think, if there's anything you would change on them.

Well, hopefully you won't have to suffer. Darth Sebious has said that he will be putting more new icons up.
I think he requested that anyone who'd like to see any specific icons up pm him. Here's the thread where the new icons are being discussed:

That was the best I could do on Corran Horn, but some of the other icon-makers also made Rogue Squadron icons (and many more) and the links to their pages are on that thread.
