I am not a 'Before' era reader, but I might actually give this one a shot. I haven't read the comics... I tried the X-wing comics after reading all the books, and I just have a hard time reading and concentrating on the story when there's so much going on across the page. So I'm quite excited to hear that they're moving on to novels for Dawn.

It's the birth of the Jedi, with the Tho Yor collecting Force-sensitives from across the galaxy and bringing them to Tython, of course I'm reading it!

Pretty sure there's already an Official Thread™ for this, but come to think of it, I think we should start giving all of them basic "do you want to read this?" polls. It would be interesting to see how that played out after a while.

Edit: hm, maybe there isn't one already. Must be thinking of the temp board.

Well, the phrasing "would you read this novel" just asks for someone replying "how much are you paying me".

Hmmm... how much payment would it take you to read Ruins of Dantooine... and then reread it twice more? Also, you must do this in one week, to guarantee non-stop reading, and to prevent cheating (taking breaks between reads and retreating into better books).

Could be an interesting thread if a somewhat troll one

Well, I'm still miffed that they cancelled Mandorla, but I'm sure I'll read this anyway.

No, I will not read it. I really like the Dawn of the Jedi comic series and would enjoy reading the novel, but sadly the world will end a few months before it's release date.

OK. Legocloneguy22, how much are you paying me?

Voted No, I have zero interest in this time era, IMO it was better left a mystery and unexplored. Some things are better left to the imagination.

It takes place right after the first comic arc.

Well, I'm hoping it won't be done in such a way as to make it difficult to understand for one who hasn't read the comics.

But if so- there's always Wookieepedia I guess. :p

Not sure I'd read it in HC but probably would in paperback.

From Twitter: Scoundrels will feature excerpts from Crucible and the Dawn of the Jedi novel, Into the Void by Tim Lebbon. :D

Now that's an announcement I can get behind.

I don't like the concept for the beginning of the Jedi.

Rather it had been left mysterious.

It was already done in the comic, this will presumably be elaborating on that origin.

And we now know Palpatine's backstory, so why not? I don't think anything is off-limits anymore. The EU has to find ways to generate interest and survive now that it's been nearly 8 years since the movie saga ended with the release of Episode III.

Yeah, Star Wars went past the point of mystery long ago

I think there's plenty of ways to provide interest without having to destroy your own mythos.
