STAR WARS: DAWN OF THE JEDI – THE PRISONER OF BOGAN #2 (of 5) John Ostrander (W), Jan Duursema (P), Dan Parsons (I), Wes Dzioba (C), and David Michael Beck (Cover) On sale Dec 19 FC, 32 pages $2.99 Miniseries As the Je’daii study the amazing Forcesaber of the banished Xesh, word spreads that he and his fellow prisoner on Bogan, Daegen Lok, have escaped the dark moon! The three young Je’daii who first encountered Xesh are teamed with Je’daii Masters to locate the prisoners and return them to Bogan...and prevent them from bringing about the mad vision that Lok has obsessively held to during his years of banishment... • Chronicles the origins of the Jedi!
Not too surprising that Lok would escape. I think we all knew that the moment we heard Xesh was being banished to Bogan. Though I do wonder what his vision was... can't wait for this to return!
According to Issue 0, the Cathar on the cover is the Je'daii master weapon maker. So we might see the origins of reverse-engineering the Forcesaber into lightsabers.
I'm pretty sure Lok's vision is the Force Wars. What I'm really curious about is what lies "in the depths of the chasm". Did Dark Jedi really begin with something damaging a Je'daii's brain?
Oh, I hope so. I'm still curious, though, as to who Rajivari, the leader of the dark-side forces at Kaleth from TOR, will turn out to be. He's bald, and Daegen Lok ... isn't. Although, Daegen could just be suffering from a lack of a good barber. Seriously, though, I have faith that Mr. Ostrander and Ms. Duursema will do their usual superb job of meshing existing continuity tidbits with their work.
That Cathar guy's gloves look awfuly similar to the pair Darth Vader would wear over 25,000 years later
They might even be his gloves, sent back to the dawn of time to create a temporal loop that defies any origin. A Glove without a beginning, just like the man himself, born of the Force.
I'd just love it if those gloves actually were sent into the ancient past by the Endor Gate black hole, that Cathar ends up restoring balance after the Force Wars, and this series establishes that the missing part of the Prophecy of the Chosen One was that whoever wears those exact same gloves in the future is the one destined to bring balance to the Force.
Can't wait to get into DOTJ again. The break hasn't killed my interest, but it has caused me to not follow the series as closely as I would like. Can't remember too many of the characters' names.
My first reaction was to get all excited and shout YES! But on closer inspection, I think it may just be a split in the middle of the metal spike, as the brass-colour diagonal line seems to match the plate on his gauntlet that would be behind the split in the forcesaber.
