This issue was great precisely because the world-building wasn't done simply for the sake of world-building. Each visit to a new Temple kicked off a plotline; each flashback provided motivation for a character to do something. This is great stuff. It takes storytellers like John & Jan to introduce such a vast new world and to slowly reveal it to us at a pace that keeps up with the developing action. Hawk Ryo is cool. Even darker than Shado?
I would presume they are some form of precursor since they share somewhat the same origins namely that they are an engineered lifeform, have a taste for Force sensitives and share a same body structure. But whether they mutate into Terentateks or a dark Je'daii further changes them into weapons is another question.
Were not Taerantek created during the schism before exile that ended up creating the sith, and not the Jedi precursers?
I'm... actually not too sure. My understanding was that the Terentatek's origins were clouded and no one knew where they came from except that they appeared whenever the Sith were in power thus suggesting a link there. Consulting Wookieepedia... not actually got much there and not many references either. Would have to check the source materials to see what they say though.
I have a question about the lightsabers in DOTJ. The lightsabers then are just like they are in present times (or I thought they were) but In Kemp's first book where the Jedi goes forward in time from 5000 years ago they were connected to a battery pack or something. Am I missing something here?
Anyone can activate a lightsaber, though some have a force activated circut, not the same with a forcesaber, only the dathomiri girl and only when she was channeling some deephate could even get it to turn on. Like all rakata gear it is forcebased and extra darksidy
dude that xesh character is very powerful, used the force to power a dead fighter on that planet. Not even that exiled jedii could do that.
Well, wasn't that what he was raised to do, before being selected as a Force Hound? They showed all those kids, including Xesh, being tortured in those coffin-like things in order to power the Rakatan starships.
Not really. There haven't been that many. The purpose is to sequester a Je'daii who is out of balance on the dark side and give them a chance to come back into balance. Hawk, for example, was sent to Bogan and came back.
Excellent issue, I enjoyed every bit of it. We learn more about the Jedaii society (and temples), more about the masters, the relationship between Trill and Xesh (I wouldn't believe they were so close), Lok and his visions (Xendor???), the expedition on Nox. And especially : we actually see a KWA!!! One point : how old are the holocrons? By the way : isn't Jake looking perfectly like Cade Skywalker?
I don't think any of the 3 main Je'Daii will fall, though they'll be tempted. They'll be the founders of the Jedi Order. Xesh and Trill may even be redeemed, and start the slave rebellion that eventually topples the Rakata. I'm only worried about some of the older Je'Daii. Hawk Ryo, the science guy who shapes new beasts, Master Ketu, etc.
