Greetings all, I bought a belt from Tandy for my Grand Admiral costume and I was wondering if there was anyway to smooth the back of the belt. Right now it's really rough and is starting to rub the thread of my costume off because it catches everytime I shift positions. Right now I just have some tape over the back. I tried sanding it but it just made it worse. Any ideas?

Two things come to mind right off.

Get some thin leather and glue it to the inside so its shinyside both in and out.

If you want to save some money try glueing similar coloured cloth to the inside of the belt.

hmmmm, hadn't thought of that. I don't think I could afford 2" wide leather that long right now, but I have plenty of black cloth. I'll try that, thanks!
