I´ve looked through a couple of pages of threads, the index and the board search, and couldn´t find any thread for this excellent game. My decision to buy an 360 was heavily influenced by this game. It just looked like an interactive version of Dawn of the Dead, and so far it has not dissapointed in that regard.

I´ve only had it for about a week and it´s quickly become one of my favorites. So post your thoughts, funny stories about zombie-slaying, survivor-rescues-gone-bad, or whatever else that has to do with Dead Rising.

IIRC, I'm at level 30 right now. Though, this game is still really hard.....

...either that or I just suck....

The saving system really kills it for me. Sure it makes it more challenging, but more than often it's just frustrating. But apart from that it's a great game, especially moments like running around in gym gear slapping zombies with a dead fish.

Been thinking of picking this up. Looks pretty fun. All those zombies and being able to use anything to smash them is great.

If your going to fight zombies, dress for success. :D

I actually just picked this one up last week. It is a really cool idea for a game, and i do have fun getting into and out of trouble with those crazy zombies, but man.....I mean the one thing that really hurts the game has been my major issue with ALL of my 360 titles: the fonts used for informing you of things like "what button to push to do THIS" is incomprehensible!

Add onto that that this game doesn't have ingame VOICE-acting (You have to read what everyone is saying. Only in the cutscenes do you have actual spoken dialogue) and i gotta say 60% of the time i have no idea what i'm reading (At least "Ghost Recon" had voice acting to tell you mission objectives).

I've actually started looking into seeing just how affordable an HDtv would be (because most people tell me "if you get an HDTV that solves that issue"), but still, this is something the game designers really need to consider! How many people ACTUALLY own HDTV's at this stage?

Luckily, I already had an HDTV. But I agree that they should have made a notice on the box that it really is a lot more difficult to play on a regular TV.

This game is getting funner as you level up. I´ve been tempted to just keep leveling up and restarting until I´m level 50, but I also really want to get the game finished with the best ending. What´s everyone´s favorite weapon? For me it´s either the katana or the shotgun.

I really want to get to the level where you get the zombie shuffle skill. You get to re-enact Shaun Of The Dead.

And if you unlock certain achievements you get little signals where there are photo oppertunities above people's(or zombies) heads. My brother managed to do it after a little while but I still haven't done it.

Does anyone know what I have to do?

I thought you got that from carrying a book. In the Contemporary Reading store, there's a Weekly Photo Magazine that gives you indications of good photo opportunities and stuff. Is that what you mean?

You know you're in for an interesting time when, as soon as you load the demo, there's a disclaimer (in nine languages) stating that the game "is not related to George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead."

The only way I'd like this game any more would be if there was multiplayer over Live. It's complete ****ing anarchy.

Personal favorite moments: Taking a shopping cart from one end of the area to the other, clearing out ****-tons of zombies; mixing up some "spitfire" in the blender in the coffee shop and spitting zombies to death; going at a crowd with a katana; and splattering cooking oil in front of "Jill's Sandwiches," and just watching the zombies slip and fall while throwing pies at them.

(You know what makes the pies-and-oil combination better, though? The Benny Hill theme song. I loaded up that and Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now," and went to town on the undead masses. It was joy.)

    Star. It. All. Out.
As far as I know, I think its mainly for the photo competitions with Kent.

Am I the only one who finds the finding the bombs in the undergound place to be really hard. I mean finding the is not hard, the floods of zombies isn't hard, it's just that guy in the van that makes this so difficult for me...

I actually got out of the van and hit the guy with a chainsaw until he "dies". Atleast, you get a cutscene showing him crashing. You should be able to finish it now.

Just started playing my roommate's copy in the spirit of Halloween. Rather amusing.

I just picked this game up recently and it is tons of fun. Right now I'm trying to get the 7-day survivor achievement on Infinite mode. It's really tedious, especially since the healing items are so limited.

I just decided to read a bit about this on IGN, and I have to say that going to the mall for safety is even more stupid than that pub in Shawn of the Dead.

I rented it a while back and loved it. Only problem is I got to that part where the mexican dude has the sniper rifle and you and that agent guy have to take him down. I just can't beat it. Any tips?

Actually, almost all those boss characters seem insanely hard.

This way always works for me:

On the second floor of the entrance plaza, there is a sporting goods shop. Go in there and grab a hockey stick. Using the hockey stick, you can stand behind a pillar and be safe from his sniper rifle, but you will still be able to use the stick to hit him. It might take a few tries, since aiming the puck isn't very easy, but at least you won't be hurt.

    Thanks!

So...anyone else getting this? I'm looking forward to the larger map, increased zombie count and, of course the paddlesaw, nailgloves etc.

    Thoughts? Anyone play Case Zero?

Case Zero is pretty good. The new weapon crafting system is a little diverting, thought it's not really that amazing - compared to Dead Rising 1's Risk/Reward system when it came to trying to snap good shots of the undead as they were about to eat your face, the crafting system feels a lot more like the classic adventure game trope of trying to smash two items together to make a plot advancing (although, in this case, inventive zombie murdering) weapon - another downside is that the un-crafted weapons feel horribly nerfed and useless in comparrison to the crafted ones.

It hasn't encouraged me whether or not I want to pick up DR2 yet, I'm going to wait for the reviews and see how the masses feel about it before I rush out and pick it up.

Watched the first part of Dead Rising Sun this morning. Not bad, feels very 'B movie' but in a good way.

I'm thinking the item crafting thing will get old fast, depending on how many combinations exist in the game but I'll still cackle maniacally every time I find a new one. I'll be getting this just because 1) Case Zero seems to have received mostly positive reviews 2) I really, really liked the first one and 3) I'm a sucker for free roaming zombie games. Stubbs the Zombie is still my favorite and I'm really disappointed there has yet to be a sequel on current gen consoles. With Stubbs using the Halo engine, Stubbs 2: My Boyfriend's Back using the Reach engine would be downright awesome.

Not sure about the story yet, but with a bigger map and much larger on-screen Zombie count, I'm eagerly anticipating this title.

I relented and picked up the Zombrex edition on the way home from work today.
First impressions, the game is much more refined than Case Zero made out - the graphics are much slicker and the load times are much quicker (and Katie no longer looks like she's been horribly sick and some of her polygons have fallen off). So far the layout of the game feels nearly identical to the original Dead Rising, as soon as someone said "Help is on the way", you could bet your arse that they were going to say "but they're three days away", and then be expected to go out into the mall... I mean... casino... rescue people and obtain Zombrex for Katie. Very procedural.
Anyway, can't wait for the game to start opening up and for the game to start giving me combo cards.
