With all the grief that Fox has been getting with the Fantastic Four, it appears that Fox has done right by Deadpool. I haven't heard anyone say, "give Deadpool back to Marvel."

Ryan Reynolds is perfect for this role. I kind of disappointed that they changed the line, "You're going to leave me all alone here with less angry Rosie O'Donnell?" to "Jose Canseco" because I think former is funnier.

I was happy to hear Colossus has a strong Russian accent. And it looks like Negasonic Teenage Warhead is going to be a scene stealer, which would be a difficult thing to do when standing next to Deadpool.

I still look at Gina Carano and wonder if she was cast as Wonder Woman.

Well, hearing that Pool is separated across the Marvel divide from Taskmaster saddens me, but, yeah, it looks like this movie will make up for a lot of things.

As for the Rosie line, I suspect they shot several variations of that joke- we may not have even seen the one that il will actually be in the movie.

Ah. I didn't realize that was where the name came from. Only really listened to them from Powertrip onwards (or at least until the Dracula 2000 soundtrack).

EDIT- Huh, yeah, I've never heard that song before- how strange.

I remember when it first came out (old), and then reading later that Morrison named someone after it.

It's one of the best songs ever.

The latter would be funnier if Reynolds was in makeup or in costume.

Came across a headline that said Deadpool is tracking for a $55+ million dollar domestic opening. That puts it in the same stratosphere as X-Men: First Class and The Wolverine. ($55 and $53 million respectively). If accurate (It's being reported by the Hollywood reporter) it would more than double Zoolander 2 (opening that same weekend), which is tracking to open at around $20 million.

    Article here.

That's pretty good for an R-rated action film.

I just hope that the suit line from the first trailer made it into the film.

I hope there's some 4th wall breaking with Deadpool saying like "#Give the rights back to Marvel? Well, **** that! You wouldn't get my bare booty on a Disney produced movie!"

I can't believe Zoolander 2 and Deadpool are opening the same weekend (and it looks like Deadpool will run out on top) but someone shoulda realized they're very similar audiences at some point. Maybe Zooladner 2 will move up with a mid-week premiere on a Wednesday or something?

Absolutely. And both First Class and The Wolverine were PG-13 and released in the Summer. With Kingsman doing solid business last February and Deadpool poised to match or exceed it, maybe studios will take more risks on R-rated action films and February won't be the month where studios traditionally dump their garbage.

Yeah, with those tracking numbers I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Zoolander 2 decided to move up a few days (if it's not already too late) because right now it's poised to get flat-out crushed.

February usually isn't a total dumping ground though- not like January. We've had big released in that month for awhile now-at least as far back as Hannibal. And Daredevil opened Feb up to counter programming with action/blockbuster type films back in '03.

Hannibal and Daredevil were both abysmal pieces of garbage, so....

But they weren't dumped there- they were high profile releases that set box office records for February ;particularly for their genres), independent of their quality. And, again, opened up the month for future films that weren't comedies or horror.

(Plus Daredevil may not have aged well but it was kind of ahead of its time back then)
