Amph Deadpool, the (Golden Globe-nominated) Movies!

So with Hugh Jackman hanging up the claws after the last Wolverine flick (apparently) I think the odds on Deadpool becoming the new "Wolverine" and/or Nick Fury figure in the Fox Merry Mutant Universe jumped up exponentially. I'm not saying all the X-flicks will be R-rated but there probably some creative ways to use Deadpool in PG-13 X-Men flick efforts and not lose the essence of the character (I'm a fan of blatant black box and bleeping censorship and have Deadpool be aware of it and really irritated. If he points it out, just have the other X-Men characters be confused and annoyed at his rambling)

If anything, if Marvel got uppity about it Fox could say it was a parody.

 

How Deadpool Should Have Ended

 

Sixth weekend. This movie is still top five. What an amazing ride at the box office.

$731 million worldwide on a $58 million budget. The massive hit Ryan Reynolds' fans have been waiting for (though I did love Woman in Gold).

 

Indeed. If you had told me 20 or so years ago when this guy popped up - for all intents and purposes an anti -Spidey knockoff ancillary attached to the X-Men - that he'd be the star of an R-rated superhero movie that would surpass the bo numbers of, say, Batman 89, I would've told you to go check yourself at the nearest loony bin. Simply incredible.

 

Deadpool's reign as the biggest movie of 2016 will soon come to an end. Zootopia is nipping at its heels.

Because it must be said again and again: Incredible. WB needs to sit up and take notice, because I sincerely doubt BvS will reach anything close to that number.

 

Eh, I'm not sure I'd take that bet. I could see it petering out around 750 - 800mm USD, which would still be a colossal misfire for WB but beat those numbers.

 

I will take that bet.

 

When they were shooting Suicide Squad they said it'd be a PG-13 (or a "hard" PG-13, whatever that is) but I hope the success of Deadpool lets them edit the flick for an R-rating cuz I think this proves that not all comic book movies need to be PG-13.

Also, fun box office mojo factoid: Deadpool needs just a little over a million dollars to surpass Days of Future Past to become the highest grossing X-Men movie worldwide. (which is the record I was most interested in as a fan of the X-flicks. Now it flip-turns upside down what Fox could potentially do with these movies)

 

True that, however, Suicide Squad could just stumble into an R-rating like Batman v Superman did and instead of trimming it down they could let it ride based upon Deadpool mucho dollars. (I'm personally convinced David Ayer probably would end up making an R-rated movie even if he didn't intend to). However, yes, Deadpool is built R-rated from the ground up and it totally works that way.
