Stephen Spielberg is executive producing a mini-series for TNT based on THE TALISMAN, by King and Peter Straub, expected to air in 2008.

That and more news at SciFi Wire.

It's by Peter David, of course it's a fantastic job!

Peter David's doing it? I read his King Arthur book and wasn't really impressed, but re-doing King's books for the screen might be different.

    [face_blush] What I get for skimming . . . .

    My opinion still stands, though.

I really hope they do a miniseries rather than feature films. Only someplace like HBO could do it justice IMO. The idea of the Mission Impossible director does not exactly fill me with enthusiasm either. I don't know, in many ways I wish he wouldn't have sold the option- though I suppose it's hard to turn down a boatload of cash, even if you're already mega-rich.

I believe he sold him the rights for something like $14.

I enjoy Stephen Kings work, I haven't read everything but alot of it, and his Danse Macabre is very funny and informative. The dark tower is an overrated series but i still enjoy it immensly. I distinctly remember reading "Song of Susannah" on a really rainy night.

Ah, but of course! Now, if he'd sold the rights in the year of '99, I'd really be freaked out!

Marvel Comics Dark TowerThe Gunslinger Born#3 was released yesterday. Marvel continues to astound with amazing artwork while they pull us deeper into Roland's world than we ever got with the books.

I love the look of John Farson and his men. Distinctly evil much like their version of the Crimson King.

Can you post a picture of them?

So I finished my second read through of The Waste Lands today since I'm going through the series for the second time. Gunslinger held up as strongly the first time I read it. Have to agree with darth_paul on the last page about Drawing of the Three being the weakest this time around, but I still enjoyed it. Waste Lands came inbetween those two in enjoyment level.

I'm a little anxious to see how Wizard and Glass will turn out this time around. I remember it as my least favourite DT novel, but my reading tastes have changed quite a bit since I last read it two years ago. Hopefully it'll turn out better this time.
