Challenge ~ Dear Diary Challenge 2010 ~ And the winner is...

Not trying to be rude, really, just trying to understand the process.

Because I've always thought that the challenge was for the posting not just the writing. It's a challenge enough just posting on a single story for a year, even if you get things done earlier. I finished my other diary back in April, but still kept posting on it until December.

Is that actually allowed, to finish early? The rules seem to imply that it wouldn't be but I hope I'm just confused.

I mean it's your challenge and if that's the rules, it's the rules, I just don't think this particular rule about early writing makes much sense.

Edit -- Who has time to write a whole diary in five days during the holidays?

 

You can finish any time you want. Only if you finish early - the diary won't eligible.
If you started in January and then wrote things together until April and posted until December that is fine, too.

What the rule is trying to prevent is that you sit down, write a story during the year and then wait for the next diary challenge to start and post it. You understand what I am aiming for?

 

Well since I did the latter, I'm okay. I started in January, finished in April and kept posting till the end of the year.

 

Definitely will be participating again. I can't wait! Decided to go for two again this year. Am I crazy or what?

I plan on participating this year. Just a question though -- does a non-detailed outline of the story count as writing before the challenge starts?

 

Non-detailed, is okay.

 

I've got a question, can we start at midnight in our own time zones or do we have to wait for board time? That'd be something like 3 am for me since I'm on Eastern, so I was curious.

I've been doing some major world building and plotting before I start playing in mine on the 1st to tide me over. Was a great suggestion to outline.

If you start midnight your time, you also have to stop midnight your time.
But I am not on board time either, so I don't mind as long as you keep to your time zone.

Ooh, this looks like so much fun, I might just have to do one this year. As long as I don't have to post something today... If I understand correctly, I just have to have at least two posts per month (doesn't matter what day), right? If that's the case, I might just give this a try!

 

I've kind of decided to completely redesign my character, and I've spent most of today in bed. When's the latest I can start the diary by?
