    With my rather vocal disagreement with that plan, we had to come up with another plan, but I am now "rather obsessed" with noses. Between Fang and Qui-Gon I am beginning to think I am insane. I very likely am!

    Ha, poor Noela. Her friends are teaming up against her.

    Grandmamma has sent me some of her Stroodal. I know, it doesn't make sense, but it is wonderful to eat. If I feel benevolent enough I might send some to Qui-Gon someday.

    I'm curious as to what that is.

    Lovely update. It's nice to see the younger, more "innocent" Noela here in addition to the maturer and more troubled one from By Small Things. Really accentuates the changes her character goes through.

    Ish: LOL indeed at the Stroodal!

    Princess_of_Naboo: You are so right there is a growth in the character according to the events that happen to her. At least I Hope so..

    As to the stroodal.. just think of grandmamma's reported origins! :)

    Next diary entry!
    ~~~~~
    I honestly don?t know how Fang does it. I always felt I was a bright and moderately intelligent girl, but after spending time with my roommate, I feel absolutely stupid.
    I work hours on my lessons, putting my best efforts into everything, and I do get grades that make even my mother happy, and put me in line for scholarships that will give me more freedom to make my future choices, but Fang astounds me.
    The pile of datapads that contain the writings needed for her classes remain in the pile she so very carefully made the first day of classes. We could probably use some sort of resin and preserve them for posterity, but as I think about it that would probably be unnecessary. Time alone is probably changing the chemical bonds, fusing them together permanently, they have been that untouched since the original formation of the mound!
    Still as well as I am doing, she continues to do just as well and a mite better in some of her classes. Something about possessing that kind of brain is sick and wrong!
    Will there ever be a day I am not running to be as graceful as Tahl, as smart as Fang or as beautiful as my grandmother? I know, I know, I shouldn?t compare myself, but I can?t seem to help it! Why Qui-Gon?s face comes to mind every time I start such a litany is beyond me.
    Which leads me to the next subject; after weeks of enjoying Maron?s company as what I assume is a girlfriend, we have broken things off. He got attached (that ruddy word again!) to the red head down the hall after we had a few words about that Jedi I wouldn?t quit writing. When I explained that he wasn?t in a position to tell me who I could associate with, we had words, and that, as they say, was that.
    I would like to say my heart was broken, but while I admit my pride is a little battered, I just don?t feel crushed. Fang says it is because my heart has already stated clearly what it wants. What do I want for pity sake? She refused to say more, even if I bribed her with chocolate.
    The upshot is my birthday went without sign of a boyfriend or a Jedi attachment. **pout**
    I can?t carry on with that too long however, because I would rather burst into tears inappropriately accompanied by a silly smile.
    Qui-Gon sent me a beautiful necklace of skystones from Commenor for my birthday. In a display of sentimentality that took my breath away he said he used his few discretionary funds to buy it for me because it reminded him of my eyes. What I really want to know is why him saying that makes little flip flops turn in my stomach. Fang just shakes her head at me.
    He is headed now for Dantooine. He said something about humanitarian work. I wish I could be there, because for some reason I feel alive when helping others. I suppose it is my nosy personality asserting itself, thinking I can save the galaxy.
    I asked about Smoochy, actually worried for its welfare while Qui-Gon is away. I have no idea why. I hate snakes. He has a ?Smoochy-sitter? all lined up, so I have quit worrying.
    I have some things I have to go take care of, including some creative bribing for the next yearly event. After all I can?t let just anyone spend that day with a certain Jedi Padawan!
    ~~~~

    Well it is that time of year and I manage to pull off the impossible by having the assignment my way. (Read: Qui-Gon is my escort again this year)

    My mother made sure that I had something stunning and elegant to take with of course, worried that I would instead show up to something formal dressed in fashion ala Fang.

    Mother loves Fang, but can?t shake the feeling that the girl is going to lead me to an early grave.

    So I suppose the only kind thing to do will be to keep it all quiet from her about how Qui-Gon got us tickets to the Gamorrean Opera.

    I met him as he requested on Republica Way, and was met with a crowd of some size. He was near the front with a lot of people talking to him. I thought at first they were just interested in a Jedi, and so I hung back.

    The creep then motioned for me to join him and as I got closer put his arm around my waist and swung both of us over the side of the bridge and into the river. I don?t want to think about what lives in that river.

    It did however get us the tickets to that opera, so I had to forgive him pretty quickly, at least for that part.

    The next issue was that Master Dooku also obtained tickets by means less? wet, so he said that we could go as long as we brought along another ?date? for Qui-Gon, because he was going to be mine. I don?t understand that man. He looks down at me from his great height as if I am a bug to be squashed, but then is willing to spend time in a situation where he might have to talk to me!

    Thank goodness for mother?s choice of a gown because I must have passed muster. It was Fang that got his attention though, with her skin tight leather dress which was short, and her boots high enough to almost touch the hem of the gown.

    Can a Jedi Master?s eyes bug out? I guess the answer to that is yes, because the other secret to Fang is that she has a figure to almost die for, which was appropriate because I think we about lost the good master for a while there.

    After a wonderful meal at the 23rd Hour we went to the Opera and I found myself sitting between both Master Dooku and Qui-Gon. Fang said it was because they are both smitten with me, but I say the truth is closer to Master Dooku making sure we didn?t do something inappropriate like accidentally looking ?chummy? or something.

    Master Dooku kept leaning over to ask things about the music, but I think I just confused him. I might not be a musical genius, but I do well with listening thanks to all those lessons from Grandmamma. During an intermission we were taking about some of the female lead solo?s and when I did a couple of the spectacular ranges, he blinked at me and said ?I had no idea you were musical my dear, why aren?t you pursuing that career??

    It was kind, but I couldn?t help thinking he was wishing it had been so I wouldn?t be such a distracting Attachment for his Padawan. Still it was a good evening even with Fang singing with during the opera, but Qui-Gon was a little worried about the repercussions of Fang and her dress.

    ~~~~
    I am back to school, and working harder than ever. I haven?t really mentioned it directly to anyone but Fang, but I have tested out of a lot of the core requirement classes as well as the lower level track requirements, and so I am headed for a fast track out of here, if it doesn?t kill me first.
    I don?t really know what hurry I am in, except that I am just brimming with the need to get started on my career. I will probably never be anything truly but a glorified assistant, but I wish to be a good one if that is the case.
    I have met somebody new, and as an expected side event, Qui-Gon has sweetly offered to ?pulverize his kinda cute face.? I can?t imagine a real brother would be this bad with the need to overprotect me. I think I will look into signing up for one of those, as it might be easier on my nerves than a Jedi!
    I have sent him the pictures of the dresses I wish to wear to the dance with
    Sigh.
    That was a big one in case you had wondered. I am so tired that I can hardly see straight, but am still on track to be out of here early.
    Did I ever mention it is hard to be a brilliant scholar when I have an Attachment, two sisters, parents, and roommates that make me tear my hair out?
    No, I am not bald, but sometimes I fear I am close to it.
    I am considering throwing my books into pile matching Fang's just to see if it works as a lightening rod for intelligence like I am beginning to suspect.
    She has been rather odd lately however. Keep in mind that odd for her means wearing her hair in something other than a mohawk and she actually put on a blouse in a lovely dark green one day, instead of the unending black. She mumbled something about it matching her eyes.
    I would sit and consider why that might be important to her all of a sudden, but then the part of me that knows that she and Qui-Gon communicate has me....... worried.
    I know, I know. stupid. Especially since he can't ever admit anything more than a capital "A" for anyone. I don't like these conflicting feelings. That would be one more reason not to go out with another Jedi, because who needs this sort of complication in a life not even two decades in length?
    Okay I am leaving the topic of men for just a minute because I will probably never figure that puzzle out, to make note of the good job I have through the palace giving me a bit more independence and even less time to myself!
    My sisters are good. No, brilliant is the better word for them. Tani is just so sweet it should be illegal and Ciel? Well Ciel is so charming I don't know of anyone that isn't in love with her. She on the other hand has her sights set for the impossible Jedi Padawan. They all love looking at his Holo's. If he knew how many we had tracked down he would likely blush, and then I would blush. Then he would give me the standard lecture about "appriopriately non-romantic" love he feels for me.
    I get it. I get it, already. Okay so maybe my heart doesn't totally get it, but I just tell it to shut up.
    The thing is Ciel told him her future plans. I haven't been brave enough to check out his answer to her. Possible outcomes include laughing myself to death, crying myself to sleep, or just forgetting all of it for more studies.
    Speaking of which I have an astrophysics test, a project due in diplomatic studies, and a solo to learn for the all race choir, so I will just have to continue this later.
    ~~~~

    Wow. Just wow.

    The puzzle of Fang has solved itself.

    Not without a lot of panic first as suits Fang.

    She eloped.

    That is right. The crazy girl took a crazier weekend trip with her Philosophy professor. Some of this went sort of .... well badly.

    You see she didn't tell me about her plans. Mind you she rarely does, but there hasn't been a day that I wouldn't count on seeing her somewhere, at least until five days ago.

    I shouldn't have worried, because after all she is well over the age of consent, but I did and reported her absence to security. They of course transmitted a galaxy wide bulletin, facillitating the good Professor's arrest for kidnapping.

    Needless to say at first she wasn't happy about it, but I think she has finally forgive me. Of course I had to sweeten her temper with front row tickets to five of her favorite bands' concerts. I am sure the Professor is far more likely to forgive me for calling law enforcement than he will that wedding gift.

    The other news is that Qui-Gon was trying to coax me to come and relieve him from feeling grumpy and neglected.

    For someone that is only "Attached" he sure talks like he is "Attached" at times.

    You know I can't believe that I have never left a post on this... I've read through it a number of times, and yet I never have... well, let's remedy that right now!

    I love this stuff. You've got such a well defined character here who is so personable and is realistic. I love reading her thoughts through these entries and getting a sense of who she is and the things that drive her life. I especially love the last line about Qui talking like he's "Attached". Quite nice!

    Ish: I figure you plan the big stuff, I hopefullly can fill in the little stuff from Noela's viewpoint. :)

    WyoJedi: I more or less started this little journal and thread as a way to start to learn to write off the top of my head since I tear apart so much to write anything! I hope this teaches me a bit how to just let go and let some of it happen

    Thanks for coming to read because that means a lot!

    So.. onto the adventures of my own favorite Mary Sue!

    ~~~~
    Tani suggested that she come and visit me to meet my new roommate and then all of us have an ?I Hate Men? weekend.
    At first I was surprised that she would suggest such a thing, but then when she explained that her best friend in her medical technician classes has one regularly and it doesn?t mean that you literally hate men, I told her that it sounded like a great idea.
    With instructions from Tani, Gylea and I prepared by purchasing an assortment of chocolate, brought in a load of our other favorite comfort foods, and rented a few sappy holovid?s. Once our floor at the dorms caught wind of the plan it sort of grew. Some of us that have been dumped lately (yes that would be me, the break with Jas now a campus legend.) had the holo?s of said dumper blown up so we could make the picture appropriately fit the personality using a few paints. It was very therapeutic and ended with all of us agreeing that we really did love men, but sometimes we just don?t understand them.
    Take Jas for instance. I sent him to Coruscant with items for Qui-Gon and he came back and announced that there was no way he could ever see eye to eye with someone that was friends with someone that couldn?t figure out how to leave someone else?s woman alone. I protested that I wasn?t aware that I had been sold as a slave. Mind you this was all in the Student Union, so the only one not to hear the argument was the deaf gardener over behind the library.
    It went downhill from there.
    It is all for the best. He met the cute red head down the hall, they got engaged in no time, and now they are married and she dropped out of school.
    Anyway we all piled in the huge common room, ate the food, and watched the vid's which were appropriately tragic enough to have us all in tears. Most of the girls were in love with the actors, and would talk about how they wanted to meet and date one. I disagreed. I just can?t see myself ever being interested in a man that acts. Funny thing is I could have sworn I saw Qui-Gon in a bit part in one of the vid's, but they wouldn?t let me rewind to check it out.
    Of course some of the girls got on the subject of my Jedi Attachment, so I had to spend the rest of the evening being evasive. One thing though is that if Tani is the one in the family that has learned discretion as we have always claimed, then I would have been in SERIOUS trouble if Ciel had been there. She couldn?t even keep quiet that he named his khiasnake after me.
    Even Fang had kept that fact quiet.
    Still I think I might have to remember of holding an official ?I Hate Men? day in the future, so that I can go on to the next day remembering why they are so loveable.
    I wonder if this counts for Master Dooku?
    ~~~~

    Qui-Gon sent a un-birthday present of tickets to the symphony. I took Gylea, still reeling just a bit from Jas and frankly much too overwhelmed to try to flirt with anyone right now. I think she was very happy with the evening, and now has a case of puppy love on Qui-Gon. Go figure.

    If he does meet her he will be very at home. She bangs into more things than I do, since my love affair with wooden objects seems confined to doorways. She manages to find a way to crash into, fall over or trip into everything else. Bless her heart; you would think she was a stolen Ovorp sister.

    However I am due for a break, and have managed to wrangle an invite for this years event with a certain Padawan.

    I have ordered that this year we refrain from jumping into anything wet for our en

    Ish: yup it is. I think even more therapeutic as a session with Chess, as great as that is. Chess should be invited actually.

    WyoJedi: An "I hate men" day if done right has nothing to do with slamming you guys. Just a moment for girl power to lend support to the confused among us :) I can't imagine actually hating you guys. Araxie is the one that had these with roommates in college when they were having stress with men they were in love with.

    Araxie: I am glad it hit me to use it!

    ~~~~
    I hurt.
    All over.
    My dreams of a quiet evening with Qui-Gon and getting to know him again after a year, ended about the time that Fang infiltrated our plans. I am still trying to get over the picture of her husband, the professor being part of the body surfing crew.
    Let me back up. Qui-Gon noticed that Ewok Genocide was having a concert. That observtion came at the same moment that Fang suggested that it would be a great activity for our date and that Master Dooku would worry less if she were to be a chaperone.
    That of course was our first mistake.
    Qui-Gon was in an odd mood right from the beginning of the evening. I can always tell when Dooku has been riding him hard about his training, because he does this. The old Attachment problem, becomes part of the rebellion, and he almost becomes 'clingy' for lack of a better term.
    Tonight that clingyness took the form of Qui-Gon getting a temporary tatoo behind his knee in the shape of a little heart with my name in the middle of it. I kept shaking my head that it wasn't a good idea. He reminded me getting the tatoos was, which of course was right, but I never planned on having my name emblazoned on his skin.
    Not that it wouldn't be nice if it was meant. But that is beside the point.
    Fang of course thought it was brilliant, and had her professor get a few himself. The poor man is still walking around in shock.
    Anyway we went to the concert, and Fang being Fang suggested we couldn't hear it right if we were not right down in the Mosh pit. Qui-Gon and I were carefully trying to follow her when we were both picked up and.....
    Neither of us remember a great deal more.
    Of course Master Dooku blames me, and has requested in the future that I return his Padawan in one piece.
    He told me Qui-Gon would say the same thing, but that he is so drugged out that he doesn't trust what he says about anything, which leads me to wonder what he has been saying exactly. I am probably safer not knowing.
    The point of all of this is that while Qui-Gon was out of it, his Master found the tatoo that was meant to remain a secret.
    Qui-Gon now has a cold because of all the cold showers his master has administered. Why do I feel like this is my fault?
    It has been nice that both of us have been so out of commission because we have had so much more time to talk and write. The sweet thing about that is that we talk about so many more things than our immediate concerns, like we usually have to explain with the short time we have.
    He talked about growing up in the temple, and how he came to decide that he really would have chosen his life, even though it looked at first like it was forced on him.
    He wondered about what it was really like to have a family and was addicted to stories of our holidays together, and how my sisters get into my make up and hair adornments, as much because they look up to me as anything.
    He listened while I told him about how I have felt through the Jas event, and laughed at the story of the "I hate men" day. He said he hopes he is never the reason for me holding one.
    Qui-Gon looks up to Master Dooku, and was always amazed that such a cultured and refined man chose him.
    I even confessed to the day that I watched him at the tournement and he was sad that I didn't tell him that I was there. I didn't mention Tahl.
    He said one of his fears is that after I graduate and get busy I will forget him completely. I can't imagine even wanting such a thing to happen.
    I think my drugs are getting to me. I have to go sleep
