    I suppose that a girl with a red nose, watery eyes and a constant hacking cough is just not someone you worry can seduce your Padawan.

    Naturally. :p

    I'm glad she managed to get out and still retain some dignity.

    Araxie: You are right. He did deserve it. I don't think it will be the last we hear from him. It could have been one of those books but for sisters playing a naughty joke those would be too tame. Seduction with a red nose just isn't effective, even if Noela had a clue how.

    DarthIshtar: Glad those gave you chuckle!

    Lea-El: Yes he did sort of come to the rescue. Who knew that teasing your best friend would give her the opportunity to one up the bad guys?

    It wasn't Tahl but her sister Tani that came to take care of her by the way. Do you know how often I have to make sure I have typed the right one??? :) [face_laugh]

    BrentusofGath
    : Yes she did get out of that with her dignity semi-intact. Dignity is an important thing to Noela, even when she crashes and burns, so to speak. Thanks so much for reading!

    ~~~~~
    So it seems that my sister Tani, in a fit of being supposedly helpful, actually left datacards with those trashy holonovels sitting on my end table by my couch.
    After Qui-Gon had me settled and wrapped up in more blankets than anyone should have to endure, he got nosing around to find the vidscreen remote.
    What it with men and remotes? It is especially curious in light of the fact I suspect he could wave a hand or whatever and switch the station. Anyway he found those instead and asked what they were. Since I didn't know at what they were, we found my datapad and put one in.
    At first it had all the appearance of nothing too dangerous and he started reading out loud. BIG mistake.
    The look on his face was priceless when about a half-hour into the story the power couple was already at... well whatever it is that people do at times like that.
    The worst part is that he read it very well. A bit too well.
    I was so glad I had the excuse to keep my very red features hidden behind a handkerchief.
    Worse still was when he looked at the cover art. It was his turn for his face to turn red and he refused to let me look.
    He stopped reading that story and put in the other two or three files and looked at them. He flushed even more.
    "Are you sure you have never read these before?" He was actually glowering at me, and it is probably a good thing that flu medications made me a little loopy, because all I could do in response was giggle like an idiot.
    That and remind him that up to this point I didn't exactly have time for the genre and threw my copies of The History of the Republic at him, nicely of course!
    We made the immediate decision that we would involve ourselves in a little shock boxing on the HoloNet as a mutually agreeable alternate activity. That should tell you how sick I was.
    He was a lot happier watching people bash each other into a bloody pulp. I resolved to look at those holonovels later. I had to see what had upset the unflappable Padawan.
    ~~~~

    This has been the day for surprises.

    I felt so much worse after the Jedi had visited me that for a few days all I did was sleep around the clock and I forgot all about my resolve to look at the cover art for the holonovels Tani so 'kindly' provided.

    I can't help but know that Ciel was actually the mastermind in the plan. Tani has a need for romance but when it comes for a fine appreciation of 'naughty' we turn to Ciel. She already influences little Mere in the worst way!

    When I finally got around to remembering what had happened a few days after I was back to work, I put one of them in my reader. At least now I understand Tani's comment about living the trashy holonovel.

    Can I tell you what a shock it was to see US on the art of that stupid thing? If I didn't know better I would swear Qui-Gon thinks I am that woman baring her abdominal muscles for the galaxy to see. It isn't that I am opposed to such a thing in principle, but only when I am part of an appropriate crowd and activity like swimming.

    I sent off a note immediately to make sure he understood that. I sent another message to my sisters that they are still ignoring.

    What I really didn't want to think about was how

    Where do I start with this one.

    "Are you sure you have never read these before?" He was actually glowering at me, and it is probably a good thing that flu medications made me a little loopy, because all I could do in response was giggle like an idiot.

    Has he seen all the sisters giggle and the yet elusive Aunt all in the same room? That is all I could think of when I read that one. :D

    Can I say I'm relieved. [face_blush]

    What I really didn't want to think about was how good the Qui-Gon's double looked without his shirt.

    Another vision of our dear Liam? [face_love]

    I loved the Date with Yoda and the idea of the progressive dinner. Then the padawan having to be there with Fang during her L&D. Hysterical. [face_laugh]

    Well done Sis, I loved it.

    My shins hurt already from the possibility of being the target for his practice all evening.

    LOL! Well of course Yoda's not going to crack you in the legs, you're not a padawan, despite what he said later. He was teasing. :p

    Dooku with a love interest. [face_thinking] Attachment, forbidden, it is. Maybe that's what leads him toward the Dark Side. [face_mischief]

    DarthIshtar: Awww indeed. At least one mystery is answered!

    Araxie: You know it could be another early vision of Liam. I thought of that as I was writing it, but you were the only one that caught the possibility! Very good! :)

    BrentusofGath: Indeed :) Love leading to the dark side? No. .never. Not even for Anakin. Selfishness, greed, power, lead there. Not love. Ever :) Thanks for reading.

    ~~~~~
    Some people have truly lost their collective brains.
    For some reason someone thought it would be absolutely brilliant to have me run for office. Diplomacy had been my interest, but we all saw how well that worked with the Sameneh problem, so I suppose they thought to get me busy doing something else for awhile.
    Qui-Gon thinks it is wonderful, which is really quite lovely of him. Part of the excitement is the possible chance to be all Jedi around me IF I win and IF they assign him as my guard for the race.
    Even for this part of the race I now have the help of a firm whose task it is to make sure that I am ready for public appearances. My face was judged as passable in an innocent sort of way, but since people need to view me as being able to be tough on whatever stands it is they want me to be tough on, we need to find a way to bring out the ice-queen genes they are sure must be in there somewhere from my spectacular mother.
    Mind you she was so sweet she was not able to be tough with us girls, or the servants, I realize how much it all has to do with 'the look' of being aristocratic. They are pleased that somewhere in the last couple of years I lost the roundness to my face that made me fear that I would never been seen for the age I am. Since they wish to act like this is a winning ticket we are already discussing how I will look, act and talk.
    The truth? Some of this is good, but some of it is too silly for words. As I have never been through this before I will behave myself and learn and then figure out what I will do and what advice I can do without. It all reminds me of that funny movie Miss Republic. I doubt they will be able to get me to stun the men the way she does when they let her go from the 'secret operation' headquarters to turn her into a beauty queen.
    I will admit that some of the fabric they are bringing me for official function clothing is astounding, even if conversely I am terrified of just how many layers it is that I will be wearing. Sometimes the Jedi are lucky that there is one rather basic look for all, which is somehow noble and casual all in one swoop.
    Qui-Gon serves to keep me grounded through all of this, reminding me that the last thing I want to is become is complacent at the attention. He asks regularly if we have made any more headway into the Sameneh problem. There have been other teams back and I continue to do what research I can, but the situation is delicate. It isn't helped here at home with the surprising bigotry against the Sameneh . On this blighted planet, in this one tiny area barely the size of the diplomatic district on Coruscant, we have this people that are grounded in the idea of the republic and the democracy built from that, yet people hate them with avengeance , and call them murderers and usurpers even as their people are killed daily in terrorist attacks. I even wonder why I am in the vocal minority that speaks for them and their continued survival, and I wonder if I am the one that is out of touch.
    I see it in such a different way that Qui-Gon only tells me that I my only real option, as the woman he knows that I am, is to continue to hold such firm beliefs. If I lose friends for standing up for what I believe, he reminds me that they were not worthy to begin with. He is such a comfort.
    It is time I went to do a little more work before the primaries in a few evenings. Then I will know what course my life will take at least for the next few months.
    My face is tired.
    My smile muscles are set and someone must have sprayed it there.
    DarthIshtar: Yes indeed she is. I imagine some quarters are cheering :) It still won't be very good.
    I rather thought Noela could be capable of such a thing, but then feel very guilty about it! Glad it made you laugh.
    Araxie: Yes I think that women often feel those. I have realized there is a whole frame of reference I don't understand in the slightest. I think reading these and responding makes you think about a viewpoint you (meaning me) are missing. Thanks for reading!
    BrentusofGath: No I don't think Yoda is too much of a ladies man, but that is probably by choice! He is smart enough to avoid the hassle...[face_laugh] I think we confuse and bemuse the best of men at the best of times, so don't even ask when it is a situation like Tahl/Noela! Thanks for reading. It does mean a lot.
    ~~~~

    For the last several months I have played a duplicitous game where I send messages to Qui-Gon, hoping that we are speaking in the same code.

    The leads to an interesting situation that many people have wondered and supposed at, but I have been a very small party to knowing for certain. I have either been at council meetings by holo or in person.

    The excuse by which I enter the Temple is the official line of public relations.

    If it were for any other reason than Qui-Gon being in the worst of trouble I would be very excited. As it is anytime I pass by the entrance and those massive columns, I feel sick lest someone tell me the worst.

    I know that sounds strange, because in a way I am the only to hear anything from either of them. Yes, I have even heard from Master Dooku, but his notes don't say a great deal. The Padawan at least is giving me some fair descriptions of where he is at.

    What I don't understand is how he is getting the messages out if it is that bad. Let me rephrase that; I KNOW it is that bad, but why would they let him contact me? He has some serious explaining to do, after I have hugged the life out of him in revenge for worrying me sick. That threat would scare a Jedi more than shooting directly at him with a blaster.

    Tahl is still with me, and I know she is as worried as I am for all her pretense otherwise. She waits for the messages to come through as much as I do, and asks for if anything arrived twice a day even if she has to comm me to do so.

    We have a very strange working relationship, but without Qui-Gon around it seems to work, at least to a degree. Of course I frustrate her a great deal. For instance we were at one of the campaign events here on Coruscant, before I had to make a trip home for some serious trail-blazing there. She is so tall, she gets through the crowds without much problem. People just sort of part naturally to allow her a path through the bodies, and then they close to keep me from staying with her. She has told me I have to hurry, and I honestly try, but her stride is so long it just doesn't work.

    This one particular day I found myself in the midst of a group of people, including a young man that I guess thought I was a good target for mugging. Well I went into automatic and slammed my foot down on his instep, used my hand to push the palm up breaking his nose and followed with a really good kick to a knee-cap. I guess I really have been learning what to do in my Teräs Käsi classes. I was standing there, listening to the gasps beside me and watching the bleeding person at my feet, wondering in a functionally ridiculous manner why I didn't try this in the hostage crisis, when Tahl broke back through the circle.

    "Did you do that?" She demanded. Her coloring had faded and she was shaking.

    "I think so," was my reply. I was stuttering and kept looking at my hand in disbelief.

    "I asked you to stay with me to keep you out of this kind of danger!"

    It was at this point that my victim spoke up, "hey Lady, I think I am the one in danger here! She could have killed me!"

    Tahl stared down at him. The way he began cowering, and glancing between the pair of us, I could tell he didn't know who to be the most afraid of.

    "Do you think

    DarthIshtar: I imagine she could only feel those things. For a year it was on her shoulders. Thanks for the compliment!

    Araxie: I am glad you liked it. Noela is a very sensitive person, but that alone will get her into situations that are tough. Thanks for the support!

    BrentusofGath: You are that little devil on my shoulder aren't you? Egging me onto causing angst and upset for those Tahl lover's out there are you? Would that I could [face_laugh]. However Noela's life won't be the only one in danger if I do that! I agree.. she won't face the truth of it. Thanks for the support.

    ~~~~
    Life got back to whatever passes for normal around here fairly quickly.
    I have a great deal of worthwhile work, and occasionally it even includes a visit from my two favorite Jedi in an official capacity.
    Qui-Gon tries to keep a serious face, but I can tell that having to address me as Madam Ambassador is just about more than he can fathom at times. For some reason our growing older and taking on responsibilities is something he just doesn't face as well as I do. You heard me right. The Padawan who can face intense situations I am positive I will never handle well, and remember who he is protecting and serving, just doesn't like it that we are growing up so fast.
    Can I say how strange it is that Master Dooku is settling into the new relationship beautifully and gives me great insight into things that will be helpful into my various official visits off-world, and easily falls into talking with me about the political situation anywhere? While the padawan tries his best to make sure my post means that I am tied safely to my chair, with permission to go home at the end of the day only if Jedi protection has been arranged, Master Dooku only states that I will do just fine, and my work makes the Jedi work much easier. He says that is the real point of the yearly event;the Jedi cannot do all the work, making anyone willing to work as a true diplomat a treasure. We depend on each other.
    Speaking of which, it is that time again. As we are now well over the age of majority, and I have been doing some finely tuned negotiations of my own with the Jedi, I am hoping that Qui-Gon will be my escort again this year.
    On the other hand that is a topic of some stress for the man I have been seeing, Michand Moure.
    I don't indulge to many sessions explaining everything so his jealous nature will be abated. I find myself making a little list at random moments of the day, about his good and bad points. I usually ball it up and throw it out before I start in on it though. I am just not going to be able to find... well it doesn't matter. I don't do the list because so far we have only gone out to dinner or a few events, and such a relationship does not require a pro and con list.
    I told Qui-Gon about him but that wasn't so good either. He happened to bring by some plans I need for a future trip and what part the Jedi are playing in the conference, and Michand dropped by. Another of his nasty habits. When little Mere points out that I am not a worthwhile, working member of society, she manages to be charming. When Michand implies that what I do is all for show and that a 'pretty little thing' like me can't handle real politics, so therefore I can drop everything for him at the drop of the hat, I have this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach I don't entirely recognize or like.
    So of course I had to introduce them. I knew that Michand was jealous of Qui-Gon's height, his presence, the lightsaber attached to his belt. Worse still was there wasn't a thing Qui-Gon was jealous of, although when Michand left I heard all about how I should be careful and some blurb about 'the Holy Alderaanian Law of Chastity', that I finally traced to Qui-Gon disapproval of Michand's off-hand kiss as he left.
    "Why did you let him do that?" He asked.
    "Men and women rather like to do those sorts of things in the everyday, non-Jedi world." I teased back.
    He wasn't in the mood to be teased. We then approached what was our fi
    I love the Mind Healer I was assigned to.
    Her first request was that I refer to her as Chess. She also said that she had asked for someone young and easy to train for one of her first cases. I told her the young part vaguely matches, but the easy to train is definitely up for grabs.
    She said we could work on it.
    We started slowly of course. We went over my childhood, leaving Alderaan for a life here on Coruscant at the ripe old age of 14. When we got up to my Jedi attachment, she whistled.
    Yes, she whistled. I still can't decide if she thinks that makes me crazy, incorrigible or amazing.
    We ended about there, but she told me to expect to talk about the Jedi Thing next time.
    Perhaps I will get off easy and she will decide it is all a figment of my imagination.
    ~~~~

    Part of one of my more enjoyable duties is to go to the university and also to the Jedi Temple and participate symposiums on diplomacy. The interesting thing is how differently the classes go between both facilities.

    At both places the age groups are the same. However that is where the similarity stops. The Jedi are always perfectly behaved, except for this feeling I have that they seem to expect serpents to sprout from my head.

    At the university, the students pay attention as long as you have something to hold their interest. If all else fails that huge stash of Alderaanian chocolate comes in handy.

    However there is one thing in common with both groups. They are all curious as to how or why it is that I am the special Attachment of a Jedi Knight.

    Then they want to know exactly what that means.

    They all look at me like I am insane when I tell them that I don't really know what that means.

    Qui-Gon has so many different relationships with a broad spectrum of people across the galaxy, and yet I am the only one that I am aware of that he refers to as his "Attachment."

    At least Chess doesn't look at me that way when I talk with her about it. In fact she seems to be the one person sure of what it means. I don't know if she really knows and with enough time she will tell me, or if she is just really good at faking it.

    We did get up to the topic of Michand today, who is still pushing for an answer to a more formal agreement on our part. Apparently his family approves of my connections with the decision makers in the Republic.

    Things haven't been so bad lately, so I have to admit I still am considering it. At least enough to ask Grandmamma what she thinks marriage is.

    She told me that she would sit and think about it. She asked that I not make any final decisions until she had.

    ~~~~
    Qui-Gon is back.
    We met at the temple and then went to our "spot" to eat the lunch I packed for us. He spoke of how much fun his mission was because he had the right to make decisions and others were trusting his judgment, even Tahl.
    I was in a mood to just let him talk, although I have a hunch that had as much to do with the fact that I didn't want to talk about Michand. However that old meddler, Master Dooku had already
    This time it is the real snake. .. she got rid of the fake snake.. [face_laugh] Thanks for reading!
    Araxie: Yes it is that blessed beast again! :cool:
    I have been stuck in this refresher for a day now. Fortunately I had put some towels and a robe in here, so I had something to change into and a way to have something soft for my head when I slept on the floor, but I am getting hungry!
    With every stomach growl I wonder why on earth they can't get rid of the thing. Of course I guess I shouldn't blame the poor snake for the fact that Qui-Gon just forgot to label what it was, so my assistant opened the case he sent it in, while he and his new padawan did the traditional tour of the inner core.
    I would love to be in the mood to tell you what a darling girl she really is, but when I try to open this door, I find this .. thing....heads straight for me, at a run on those ugly little back legs this particular type of serpent has. All I want at that point is some serious Jedi groveling. I am making this a permanent diary post to remind myself that I really do not want to take any missions to the home planet of this monster. And that putrid color that isn't yellow and isn't brown, that are its skin color? I am putting in legislation to make it illegal to be used anywhere.
    I hope someone figures out how to get me something to eat that isn't one of those little rodents my newest admirer keeps leaving at the door.
    Taia be praised, an expert finally came and took that beast to the Coruscant Animal preserve.
    I wanted nothing more than to go eat, but then I had the crisis of negotiating with the Ambassador that had been here to beg for Alderaanian aid. If it was bad enough that the snake thought I was a girlfriend, it thought that the Maru ambassador was dinner. Since he is no bigger than Yoda there had been a risky moment that was going to be the ultimate end.
    Fortunately the snake it had love on its mind more than food at that moment. It gave him enough time to leave.
    Sharamea is doing better although now the girl is asking for a transfer. She told me if I were wise I would too, since the Jedi was never going to change. She had been through too many moment with Qui-Gon just having to help something because of his connection to the Living force.
    He is due back anytime, but he has been frantic since I stopped answering his messages.
    I know I will get over this and find my sense of humor again, but it won't be any sooner than I quit having nightmares of that beast's orange eyes.
    Who knew that the Jedi knew how to apologize in such a fashion?
    If he had been a husband he couldn't do any better, but it begs the question, who gave him the advice?
    Lien is too young and too Jedi, Yoda is too old and too Jedi, and Master Dooku? Well he is just too Jedi.
    There are flowers all over my office. I have a daily arrival, which of course induce all types of guilt on my part for not taking his comm calls.
    The worst part is that I know his stipend isn't exactly the largest thing in the universe.
    So I secretly have sent food over, and have left a message to Lien to not mention where it comes from. Let Qui-Gon think he has a secret cupboard elf.
    I suppose today I will at least listen to what he says.
    That man has no idea how to deal with women. I would say it is a Jedi thing, but then I have noticed all men have a problem in that area. He was doing well until he suggested that I am something desirable for a snake.
    On a happier note little Mere is here to visit so they can evaluate her for the music program at the university. She has Grandmamma's gifts, and that excites me. I get too upset having to try to perform, and it hardly worries Mere at all. Right now she is in practicing some arrangement of my grandmothers. How can such a little thing play so well?
    She of course is dying, her wo
