Charlie Hunnam wanted to do it the moment he got in the room with his co-star. Must be reassuring for his current girlfriend. In other news, 50 Shades of Grey fans are only half as dumb as anti-Batfleck nerds, since the de rigeur poll to remove the studio's chosen lead has only reached 45,000 likes signatures in the case of 50 Shades. It's also nice to know Robert Pattinson has some standards: the tampon scene in the book was apparently the reason he turned the movie down.

 

So a tampon scene causes him to reject 50 shades and not the glittery vampire who stalks, controls, and performs a vampire C-Section on Bella in Twilight? Okay then.

 

He's rich and shooting for indie cred, now. I doubt they offered him enough.

Also, I don't think you understand what said tampon scene involves.

I don't see the problem with the tampon scene. He takes the tampon out + throws it away. We're adults right? We know what goes on with women biologically and we've come to terms with this?

 

I Googled it out of curiosity. From what I gather it's just them having poorly-written sex when she's on her period? Oh. I'm strangely disappointed. I thought it would be something that was actually bad, though the pulling on the string made me lol.

I just - y'know, if I'm reading erotica, I'm not super keen on descriptions of blood coming out of vaginas. One: there's blood. Two: there's vaginas. So that's like two strikes against you.

Edit: Although, yes, I'll freely concede that were I not incredibly squeamish, I guess it wouldn't be some major obstacle. When I posted my initial response I had been led to believe it was significantly more... um... interesting?

Well that's kind of the thing...there aren't horrible descriptions of it in the book. It was pretty simple straightforward. It's not a situation that's really uncommon for couples who regularly have intercourse. I understand that descriptions of that horrific aspect of womanhood make men uncomfortable, but...the "scene" is literally 2 sentences that simply state the tampon is taken out and thrown into the garbage. What's the problem?

 

As my edit concedes, probably nothing. I should've done more research before commenting. My mistake.

 

That's all (note: I have not read the book, nor do I have any intention of reading it or watching the movie. Were it not for family obligations I'd have never saw Twilight either)? I stand by my statement above about Patterson rejecting this role while still accepting the Twilight movies.

I would assume whathisface rejected the role based on a script, not the book.

R or nc-17?

They are apparently trying for an R rating. I have not seen the movie beginning to end but I have seen the infamous Requiem For A Dream. As I recall it was released unrated and was originally NC-17.

 

Rpatz had the stomach for cannibalism c-section, and now he's wussing out?! A tampon is all that stands in the way between him, and a seriously epic monopoly on horrible movies.

To have Robert Pattinson in all his great suffering cast in a movie about S&M. In any role that's not the masochist...is sweet and delicious irony.

 

I had to google that Tampon stuff. Damn, who thinks of stuff like that. And shouldn't this movie just be a porn? It should just be a porn.

 

Charlie Hunnam gets cold feet and resigns from the movie; doesn't even use his TV commitments as an excuse to hit the eject button!

 

Well now an actual porn star can step in and give this glorified porn novel adaptation the NC - 17 rating it deserves.

 

There will apparently be two versions of the movie: the clean version and the dirty version, i.e. one with an R rating, one with an NC-17 rating.

I didn't realise you could book cinemas for 20-minute movies.
