the utterly mediocre one with rachel mcaddams. watch the korean movie they "based" it on (A Tale of Two Sisters) instead. its vastly superior

This one, Frieda. Rogue is always bitter that they simplified the narrative, which they undeniably did. However, in doing so they strengthened the story and heightened its impact, creating a unique and worthwhile product.

Ender:: Of course I knew it was Australian. Where did you get the impression I am opposed to Australian things? Even if I were, such a petty bias couldn't keep me from admitting how excellent this movie is. It really is the best.

Okay, Rabbit Proof Fence is an astoundingly great movie. I'm serious. It's got two of the best juvenile performances I've ever seen.

Oh. hadn't watched that one yet. I thought you'd meant the 1944 one, which I remember seeing as a kid on late night tv and being scared by it.

I have to agree with J-w. It is a terrible boring movie. Well, not terrible. But definitely boring.

I would also like to point out that it's not like I got progressively further with each viewing or anything. Every single one of the four times I had fallen asleep within the first hour of the film. Point Given, I only fall asleep when movies have long uninteresting stretches, like the LOTR films or You Will Be Bored.

No, it's just we largely make gobsmackingly terrible films so I expect people assume all Australian films are gritty urban dramas, about the gritty drama of urban life, and give them a wide berth. Whilst Rabbit Proof Fence is both an exception to this rule, and an important film in documenting our genocidal past, I could not blame anyone for avoiding it based on the aforementioned facts about our films.

Will Smith must have an uncredited cameo.

I heavily debated included I Am Legend, and Ali. The Hurricane was also a consideration. Ultimately, though, I wanted a more broadly representative sample, and I wanted to highlight films I liked a great deal, not merely those that were very enjoyable on the occasions I saw them.

It, along with Wild Wild West, is one of the best pop music songs produced in recent memory.
