December 1: Comic Book Convention somewhere in Little Rock. More details to come later... Post below if interested

December 1: Toy Hill. This creates a conflict but the option is there for folks to choose what they would like to do.

December 8: Museum of Discovery: 9am to noonish... They've asked for costumed folks for their Space exhibit (this does give events two weekends in a row, but there is no pressure...just making sure everyone knows there is something going on if they choose to do it.) Let me know if you plan on coming as they will need a list to make sure you get in at no charge.

December 15: Holiday get together. More information for this can be found here holiday get together

If the Comic Book convention is on the first and the Toy Hill thing is going on the first...

Do we think we can swing hitting both of them in one day or do we need to split up to attack this one?

I was asked by Matt Cruz, DJ for 100.3 the edge, if we were doing the Toy Hill Drive again. The big day is the 1st, but looks like that's going to be a conflict with the Comic Book thing. Which I am ok with it.
Do we know what time we're supposed to be at the Comic Book con?

We would be cool doing both, although I am partial to Toy Hill. But we need times.

Where is the Comic Convention? Is there a website for it? Will they be having any guests (comic or media)?

niktom: I'm not sure about the times... but, I think it's a small type thing.

But, that is what larger things grow from.

We'll try to have the information up soon that is more specific. It's downtown in Little Rock.

Just got the conformation back from Edward on the Comic Book Con.
He is glad to hear that we will be there again. He also said that we can have a table there they are only 6ft instead of the usall 8ft. So I think we need 1 or 2 at the table and a few floaters. With the three of use being there we really only need a few more to make it a great event we could even have a neebie there at the table with just a Star Wars shirt on I will check on this. That way maybe more people can go to Toy Hill.

With this said anyone wanting to go to the Toy Hill please do so. Show our support there as well its a bigger areaa and needs more people. Also we usally only stay there till 1 or 2 so there would be plenty of time to come over to the Con and hang out after that.
Since its just down the street.

For those who need to know it(ComicBookCon) is at the La Quinta Hotel in Little Rock. On the corner of 6th and Broadway. There is a parking lot across the street from the entrance to park it free on the weekends. As far as changing there really was no place last time when we get there I will see if I can get somthing worked out with the hotel.

I will be at the Con and will try to swing the Toy Hill Drive.. but not 100% sure and can't say with certainty that I can do both. But we will see.

Anyone else up to do the Museum of Discovery on the 8th as well?

hyperspace_police will be at the con as well... but may try and do both.

If you have any photo from an event that you would like to be displayed at the convention... You need to get it to
hyperspace_police by this Saturday. We will be working on displays for the con at this time.

It's a small con, but as was said, everything gets it's beginnings.

Also, if you have a sugestion for some flyers... Get that to hyperspace_police. There are still some left over from Star Wars Fan Days in Dallas, but not that many.

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to the Little Rock Comic Con. It wasnt as big as the last one but we had ablast again. The next one is scheduled for April right now.

For those who went to Toy Hill thanks for going but I am hearing it was even worse than last year. Course there was 3 or 4 events going on this morning plus sevarel more this evening. LR/NLR was getting pounded all day.

    ***** possible event for 12-22-07 ****

This is not set in stone, but it can turn into a great event to help those who are less fortunate. It's getting close to Christmas, and I saw this idea from another state's garrison and RL/FF groups that got together to help out.

I have been in contact with the Salvation Army and the Central Ark Transit bus people about doing an event on Dec 22nd, (Saturday) from 9am- 12 noon called "stuff the bus" where people can come by and donate toys and clothes for Christmas....stuffing the bus with all that. So far, the Bus people and Salvation army are very excited about doing it, and those that want can come out in costume.

It's not set in stone, but something we can do for the public and for Christmas.

Please contact me and let me know if we can do this.

I am working on getting some PR mention on the radio and TV, with my contacts.

    Thank you.

    *** Update ***

"Stuff the Bus 2007" for the Holidays.

Santa has been busy this year, so he's called upon the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers (www.501st.com) to assist him "Stuff the Bus." Members ot the Arkansas Squad and local Fan Force, dressed as your favorite Star Wars characters, will be teaming with the Salvation Army and Central Arkansas Transit to bring you "Stuff the Bus." We're asking folks to come out and donate a toy or clothing for those less fortunate. With your help, we'll actually stuff a CAT trolley bus. The items you donate will be distributed to children and their families to make their Christmas a little brighter. It's another opportunity to demonstrate the true spirit of Christmas. Come to the Wal-Mart parking lot at Chenal and Bowman Road on Saturday, December 22nd, 8 am until Noon and look for the bright yellow and red trolley bus. See you there.

Thanks to all who came out and helped with this event...

Perhaps you caught the coverage on KTHV channel 11 at 6 and 10 last night...

    Or on Fox at 9.

The Fox broadcast was better...they added Star Wars sound effects...

I apologize in advance to admitting that most of us don't have a problem with being called
    nerds by hecklers...

Hopefully we can do this event again next year with a little better pre-planning and hold
    it earlier in the season.

    Thanks again!

To me, the sound effects drowned you out a bit, but yeah...Fox 16 did a better job on the coverage part.

My many thanks to the Salvation Army and Central Arkansas Transit bus authority and our local 501st and Fan Force members for working with me on such short notice. But with that said...

Approximately 1 week ago, I contacted our local Salvation Army and Central Arkansas Transit bus authority about doing an event called "Stuff the Bus", in order to provide less fortunate families with toys and clothing for the upcoming Holidays. After explaining who I was and what we did (at least twice), they agreed on short notice and the event was set up. Media releases were sent out along with emailing everyone I know to get the word out for a worthy cause.

And under dark skies and the constant threat of rain, we braved a very windy and slightly cool morning. Many people stopped by to take pictures and the toys and clothing donations were a bit slow to start off. A local newspaper photographer shoed up around 9:00'ish and the flow of donations started to pick up. Then, two camermen from 2 local TV Stations showed up for photo ops and a short interview with DZ9469 doing all the talking for our group, which she did a FANTASTIC job!

With slightly over 100 toys and some clothing donated, all in all it was a good start. Hopefully next year, we will have the event earlier and have a better turn-out! It seems likely that this will be an annual event.

Reporting for the Imperial Progaganda Network, this is TK9612 signing out.
