Hey, I was wondering what sorts of decks people reccomended and a place to buy them. It's fairly hard to find them online.

You can get some pretty sweet custom decks here:

:) You know what I mean though. You put the tape in it and hit the play button and it plays and happy days and stuff.

DV decks are a pain in the ass. I say don't bother unless you really, really need one.

    Plastic playing cards suck.

It's Bicycle or it's nothin.

Anyway, what Funk said. A deck is pretty much pointless and way too expensive unless you intend to be working with many different types of tape, in which case a deck is useful.

If you're mainly going to be dealing with DV, just buy a cheap camcorder.

I do plan on using DVcam tapes in addition to MiniDV. I also don't really like using the camera for it, just doesn't seem like the way it should be. Pardon my weirdness.

    Hey, it's your money.

Brings back bad memories of working with DV in college and doing linear editing with it. What the hell?

Ew, why? I have never seen a format trying harder to be incompatible w/ everyone else than DVcam. Including Mac products.
Dorkman's right, it'd be easier and cheaper to just use a cheap-o MiniDV camcorder solely for capture purposes.

If your camera wont connect to your computer then I could see where your coming from. I have the same problem. Luckily I can take my DV's to work and capture there...then I just send them to myself via email.
