Deliberate?

Is it deliberately done in the movies that all Jedi not using their own lightsabres (own = created by themself.) will lose a duel, and not reach their full potential?

Let's see:

Ep2: Both Obi-Wan and Anakin lost because they used someone else's sabre. Many have wondered why Obi-Wan couldn't fight as well in Ep2 as he did in EP1. Could this be the cause? Obi-Wan not using his own sabre?

Ep5: Luke used his father's sabre, and not his. He lost.

Of course, you can say that they lost because they're less skilled. That is perfectly reasonable. Just something I have noticed, that's all.

TPM: ObiWan defeats Darth Maul using Qui Gons sabre.

 

Anyone using a blue saber will lose their duel.

A DUEL. Maul wasn't even duelling when he got killed. He just stood there.

The theory doesn't work but I think it is safe to say that each Jedi is at his best using his own lightsaber. Anything else would be strange indeed.

By that logic, so was Ben Kenobi when Vader killed him.

 

Except Ben gave up when he died while Darth Maul didn't expect that Ben would escape the pit to kill him until it's too late.
