deltron's personal thread - the source of my name and one of my favorite bands

alright, i wasn't feeling too ambitious so i decided to dedicate my personal thread to my favorite space travelling, futuristic hip hop head, deltron zero. deltron zero is the futuristic alter ego of del the funkee homosapien, an artist from oakland california who has been putting out records since the early 90's. recently, after being dropped by his record label, he and a group of his friends, known as the hieroglyphics started their own label.

the rest of the group is composed of dan the automator, who composes all the music and has also composed music for a ton of other artists and side projects (you may know him from his work with the gorillaz), and kid koala, who handles all the scratching.

Awesome, Tom. I love some of the Gorillaz stuff and even though I'm not into hip hop *that* much, I can certainly appreciate it.

How cool would it be to start a record label with your friends though?

 

yeah, i really like the gorillaz too. the automator does some really diverse stuff. and actually del is on a couple of their songs including that "clint eastwood" one that was kind of a hit.

as for starting a record label with your friends, my friends and i have actually been trying to do that for a while now. we put out our first record in '98, of course we don't have the money or reputation that the hieroglyphics do so it's not easy, but it is fun.

the coincidence with my own name is a big part of why i chose the user name that i did. of course, i was pretty much the only one who knew that until now, but oh well.

 

My last name, "Dekker", always forced me to be the evil colonel whenever we played The A-Team as kids.

And I wanted to be Hannibal!
