Keith Ablow is one of the biggest turds on the planet. Most of the partisan hacks out there don't hide behind a title, and the ones who do are generally the worst.

    Creationism in Texas public schools

When public-school students enrolled in Texas’ largest charter program open their biology workbooks, they will read that the fossil record is “sketchy.” That evolution is “dogma” and an “unproved theory” with no experimental basis. They will be told that leading scientists dispute the mechanisms of evolution and the age of the Earth. These are all lies.

Charter schools may be run independently, but they are still public schools, and through an open records request, I was able to obtain a set of Responsive Ed’s biology “Knowledge Units,” workbooks that Responsive Ed students must complete to pass biology. These workbooks both overtly and underhandedly discredit evidence-based science and allow creationism into public-school classrooms.
A favorite creationist claim is that there is “uncertainty” in the fossil record, and Responsive Ed does not disappoint. The workbook cites the “lack of a single source for all the rock layers as an argument against evolution.”

Outright creationism appears in Responsive Ed’s section on the origins of life. It’s not subtle. The opening line of the workbook section, just as the opening line of the Bible, declares, “In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth.”
Responsive Ed’s butchering of evolution isn’t the only part of its science curriculum that deserves an F; it also misinforms students about vaccines and mauls the scientific method.
And blah blah blah. Keep voting GOP and this will be the result.

I think Ablow's concern that children should be making decisions affecting their future sexual identity is genuine, though his reasoning is flawed. I agree that those children are at risk of being indoctrinated into an ideological system, buuut that's what would be happening in 'normal' circumstances anyway, just the other way round. He assumes that being brought up to see gender as fluid would be traumatic, or at least more traumatic than being socialised to believe gender is a fixed binary, but he doesn't explain why. I suspect it's the old circular argument that society won't accept change, therefore we shouldn't try.

I've seen some news reports and documentaries on child TG/TS and it's pretty tough viewing. I think there is a danger of some kids being indoctrinated/misled by well meaning but blinkered psych professionals. I think sexual identity and gender should be things that shouldn't matter when you're very young (and that's probably not a popular opinion in traditionalist quarters or the fringes of American liberalism either).

I find Ablow's fixation on the toilet habits of young boys and girls a little bit weird, but not as weird as his paranoid argument that it's a Liberal Plot to remove people's autonomy:
Gender identity isn't very well understood, especially on Fox News, and it's easy to offend with clumsy or disinterested language, especially on Fox News. Before anyone points it out, I'm aware that it's not very well understood by me either. In conclusion then, I think a decent compromise would be to introduce unisex toilets and teach children not to not worry about being seen pissing by a member of the opposite sex. You don't even have to introduce the idea of sexuality or gender at all. Everyone's happy! Especially the conservative parents, no doubt.

Occasionally tuning in to the Hasselbeck era of The View I was under the impression that she was just one of those voters who actually believed that the GOP nonsense was not nonsense. She was one of those fooled, not one of those who are, shall we say, in on it.

    Yeah, she's another overpaid liar.

Basically, the war on guns and football...and I guess balck coffee...is a threat to national security.

    Elisaderp Hasselbeck, derpity do da.

Every time someone brings up this whole thing about men being too wussy, I tell them to look at the rape statistics. Until those start dropping, I'm of the opinion that men need to continue getting more "sensitive" to the needs of women, okay?

Hey Elisabeth: since you are so concerned, try being a "traditional woman" by shutting your ****ing mouth and getting off everyone's TV screen and into the kitchen.

    Practice what you preach, girl.

"It is his fault that large swathes of the nation have been afflicted by storms and floods."
He went on to say that no man, however powerful "can mess with David Silvester Almighty God with impunity and get away with it".

There are numerous stories concerning women who did not actually know they were preggers. The one I recall was a lady who just thought she was gaining weight, but one day she got in a taxi and BLAMMO she gave birth. So it does happen.

What, a nun had sex? Of Course. How else could it happen?

Having BTDT, I don't know how anyone could not know either. Yes, that is an elbow poking out on one side of your navel, yes, that is a foot in your side, yes, that is a butt just under your ribs. Not to mention the whole question of why the hell you didn't get a period for several months.

But I have heard of women who claimed they did not know.
