I just found this, and I thought it'd be appropriate here, even though at this point it's a bit out of context.

There must be a lot of women who aren't doormats on Jupiter as well.

I wonder about the effects of having a giant such as Jupiter that close in your sky. Life forms, civilization develops, and there in your sky is perhaps a giant face of some sort due to swirling storms. the effect on a religion, if other worlds create such a thing, would be quite profound/interesting.

I think it's natural for a primitive culture to invent gods/religions in the fact that it is the nature of a sentient mind to seek answers. Y'know, where they came from, why they're there, etc. Doesn't religion predate science?

When the bioluminescent jellyfish-like creatures thriving in Europa's vast mantle of ocean break their crusty icy surface and see their massive neighbor for the first time, they're probably going to go right down that road.

    Good grief

I feel like giving this derision would be too dignifying.

CPAC really outdid itself this year, it sounds like. I don't necessarily think all of the speakers are kooks, or even believe half of the crap they say (Mitt Romney), but its the bloodthirsty audience that is disturbing. They are the kind of people that those primary debates were geared towards, a group so wound up in their outrage that they can't see that everyone's laughing at them.

They just think that the people who are laughing at them are Satan's people and that they are God's chosen people. There's stuff in the Bible about the entire world laughing at God's people and they use it to justify their pathetic stances.

Democrats will have to mobilize much better than they did in the last midterm, though- the crazies are the ones who always turn out to vote, even if there isn't a Socialist Antichrist at the top of the ticket.

More like, realize that when Jesus/God's desires match up with yours, you've got some heavy thinking to do.

So that's what O'Reilly means when he calls teabaggers "traditional Americans".

    As in, pre-Civil War traditional.

Well, people laughed at Hitler. And then look what happened.

The GOP will just create another socialist anti-Christ, just like they did in 2008.

    A HUUUUUGE SUCCESS.

We created a thriving, oil exporting democracy in Iraq, thereby diminishing the regional power and influence of Iran. We rid the world of a menacing tyrant hell-bent on using weapons of mass destruction. We furthered the war on terrorism by getting Al Qaeda bogged down in Iraq in a debilitating and unwinnable war of attrition against U.S. forces outside and away from our own borders. We let the world know that we will not be bound by the constraints of international law when it comes to protecting our national security. We put the world on notice that by "War On Terror" we mean anything we want it to mean at any time. We have scared the world into submission by becoming the new face of secret police state torture chambers and we have introduced the world to our unmanned drones and extrajudicial assassinations. What's not to like?
