ST Desert Nomad and Junkyard Thug

There are a few photos of a "desert nomad" costume and a "junkyard thug" costume at the Force Awakens display. Has anyone walked through the display room and gotten a closer look?

From a distance, it doesn't look like the junkyard thug has a mouth or eyes. What does it look like close up?

Also, is that some type of weapon that the desert nomad has around his waist? It looks like several balls with spikes on them.
