It's been a month and a day now, since the last update.
Well, here's the first post for the month of May.
Woo. It's been like (checks his watch)...two months now since the last chapter! Is an update coming along or should we just consider this fic as dead?
I've seen this story go three months without an update.
You going to give PM messages when this gets posted?-- add me to the list
Hi, Could you put me on the PM list too?
This is a great fic^_^
Its been moving (Mara's reaction asking Luke if he had a happy childhood), funny (Luke and Mara's flirting as well as Obi-wan and Anakin's reunion), and thought provoking (what other Jedi hopefuls are there? Kyle, Lowbacca? And who is this new Sith Apprentice?)
Ok, I keep looking but I can't find Ch. 36!! Where is it??
I'm sorry that it's been so long between posts, but finishing school and getting ready to move close to 1500 miles away on top of some other things have kept me rather busy for the past fedw months. Luckily,I finally have the next post ready and I'll put up it after these replies. Sadly, I can't really promise anything in terms of the next and final post of this installment or the sequels since I'm starting a new job next week and have no idea how much time I will have. But rest assured, I haven't forgotten about this and will be posting when I find time to write. Just hope I have a nice boss who doesn't work me into the ground too badly.

And now for what you really want: Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Repercussions
Touching down far from the crowds mobbing his son, Anakin found himself with a greeting party of one: Padmé. As soon as the Blue Sky had settled on the landing pad, Anakin released the canopy and vaulted from the cockpit in a single smooth motion. Landing in front of his wife, Anakin could see the worry etched on Padmé?s face in spite of the success of the battle. ?Leia never made it back. We have to??
Anakin stopped Padmé from finishing her statement by placing a single finger in front of her lips. ?Leia?s fine. Proving she?s our child, she arrived in the middle of the battle to lend a hand. She made another detour to check in with Bail before rejoining us here. Leia will be back in a few hours I?m sure.?
Before Padmé could say anything else, Anakin wrapped her in a tight embrace and locked his lips with hers. He wanted to enjoy the important things in his life. Releasing his wife?s lips, Anakin finally had to come up for air. At the edge of the landing pad, in the shadows of the rebel base, Anakin could see his old master. Even obscured in the twilight falling over the base, Anakin knew that Obi-Wan had something to say. However, he was obviously doing what he could to give Anakin his space. Loosening his embrace, Anakin gave Padmé a kiss on her forehead and gave her a look that she knew meant he had Jedi business to take care of. With a small smile as her only reply, Padme stepped away and moved toward the base and the celebrating rebels heading indoors.
Anakin walked towards the sheltered entrance where Obi-Wan was watching and waiting. Without a word, Anakin moved to stand on the other side of the entrance and the two simply watched the sky dim. Finally, Anakin spoke, already knowing what was on Obi-Wan?s mind. It was the same thought that was on his. The real ramifications of the day. ?Luke will realize soon enough.?
Obi-Wan glanced Anakin?s way for a moment before turning his view to the first of the stars visible in the rapidly darkening sky. ?I could feel the deaths in the Force. So many of them.?
?So did I.? Anakin closed his eyes and dropped his head for a moment. War was hell. Many of the troops on the Death Star were poor young men. The Imperial military was the only chance they had of making at better life for their family. The Empire was responsible for numerous atrocities, but most of the soldiers were simply doing what they thought was best. Upholding the safe and secure society Palpatine had promised. They were guilty of nothing but not knowing the truth. But there wasn?t another option. ?It was the only way. That thing had to be stopped or else billions would have died. Mass genocide.?
?I know.? After a solemn moment of silence for all those who had lost their life in the battle, Obi-Wan and Anakin made their silent way into the Rebel base and towards the din in the mess hall.
Leia set down her fighter on an empty landing platform hours after nightfall. However, she was thankful to have not had an audience. Otherwise, she would have been questioned about her shaky landing, her graceful flying well known throughout the rebellion. After sitting in the cockpit, staring blankly forward for longer than she could recollect, Leia finally reached for the canopy release, tugging it with much more force than necessary. It was then that she noticed that she had gained an audience: her parents.
Taking a deep breath to try and compose herself, Leia pushed herself out of the seat, and vaulted over the side of the cockpit. However, her landing once again lacked its usual grace and Anakin had to reach out to steady her. ?Princess, what?s wrong??
The tears returned to Leia?s eyes as the question brought back everything that had gone wrong to the forefront of her memory. Less than an hour after landing on Alderaan, the Empire had come in force. Troops were landing and in spite of her will to stay and fight, Bail had insisted on getting her out of there, escorting Leia to her fighter personally. It was the last thing he had done. It took all of h/>
Poor Luke. He may not have felt the deaths as deeply as his father but he knows how many people he killed. Poor Leia as well. At least they have their family to help them.
