No doubt there Pozzi. I like Spielberg alot, but sometimes he tweaks books too much when moving them to film. (i.e. Jurassic Park). That cast is outstanding. I'm actually getting more excited about it just reading this. I hope that they do a good CGI on Bloody Baron and Peeves.
Rik Mayall .... Peeves the Poltergeist `And the Oscar for Best Actor to Play the Part Perfectly is...' I can just see it.
Does anyone know who has been cast to play the Fat Lady in Pink in the painting that guards Gryffindor Tower? I am having visions of Kathy Bates in that part.
They are doing them back to back so the kids don't age too fast..the plan is to release all 7 books as films every November from now until 2008 I also heard a rumour over here that Patrick Stewart is to play Voldamort... But nothing concrete
Hope not, he's too warm a character. Sir Ian McKellen - maybe, maybe not. Sir Nigel Hawthorne - as above, so here.
He would be good! I also see Lockhart as some blonde, cocky, funny looking cartoon. I don't know why, but that is how I have always pictured him. ?
Bring in Elijah Wood... I don't know if he would fit in any of the parts... But he's one of my favorite actors!!!
Richard E Grant for Lupin Hugh Jackman would make a good Sirius Black and Jeremy Irons as Malfroy's dad
Elijah Wood at age 11 would have made a great Harry Potter (IMHO) [image=http://www.elijahwood.com/films/tgs/tgsjpc.jpg] And Elijah Wood actually wears glasses and he is good at accents
you know they're making bertie botts beans? has anyone else tried them? i had the normal ones and it was all cool, then i tried a sardine or pepper or something, and i felt like gagging!
Every Flavor Beans?!?!? Where can you get them? I would love to try them! I would also love Chocolate Frogs. I want to get a Dumbledore card
is there a myrvens near you? i saw them in there, and other stores like it in our mall i know, chocolate frogs would be SO cool!! i woud blow all my money on those, get every card goblet of fire *****SPOILERS****** *sigh* has anyone read it yet? the prefects bathroom? omg, that would be like heaven! ******done********
Y'know I never really considered the marketing angles possible on the "stuff" from the books because everything is magical it seems like it would be hard to make anything closely resembling it, but the foodstuff seems to have it going on I just thought of something. Maybe the JC should start requiring that spoiler posts should be done the same was as over at theforce.net, y'know the only way you can see it is by highlighting it. Hmm, maybe I'll go to Communications for that one.
Well, just to be contrary... I love the books. I want to put that out there right now. I'm not an anti-Potterhead (that crack me up) or anything like that, and I'm really looking forward to some movies, but... (you knew there would be a but) Based entirely on the previews, I think the kids they cast for Harry lacks personality. Ron is fantastic and Hermione seems fine, but Potter seems....boring. I don't know what it is. He doesn't seem quirky enough, or lost enough, or something. It's tough to put my finger on it. Also, I think his glasses are far too nice. The frames need to be much thicker. (That's the petty part.) I think the rest of the casting is fantastic - particularly Snape. Alan Rickman is inspired casting! I will definitely see the movie, and truly look forward to seeing how they create the environment of the books, but I also will not condemn the franchise if the first movie is a bit...weak. I find the first book to be the weakest of the lot, and I have no doubt future movies would reflect the darkening of the story.
I tend to agree with most of what Paddy says, but I'll have to say that (and I preface this by saying I saw the trailer before reading the books) the kid fit for me. He seemed a bit lost. And, the majority of the trailer focuses on Harry well into this first year, so we don't get to see his misery of Dursley living. As for your complaint about the glasses. Talk about petty .
