FF:NSW Did anyone actually buy the lastest DVD release?

Not looking to start off the debate over the way they were released and George's intentions again (already a thread for that) I'm just interested to know how they're selling to the hard core fans, if we raced out to get them or if we just didn't bother.

 

Its suprising that this topic has only just come up. Considering this is a Star Wars forum essentially, there hasn't been a single word of this release! Didn't buy em. Dont plan to!

 

I was thinking the same thing, although I think someone posted in the personal news thread that they were now available.

 

According to TFN, a Lego corporate sales brochure is floating around, trying to get stores to stock Star Wars Lego in '07. On this brochure, a selling point is "a 30th Anniversary DVD boxset will help in sales" or something along those lines... So im guessing we will see another boxset next year. Not suprisingly!

 

Yeah, I got a bit confused about the whole "30th Anniversary" release thing. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest...

 

I plan to get Jedi, only because Linda really likes the original. But Im not rushing out. Ill get it at some point Im sure.

The 30th Anniversary set was bound to happen though, but I don't think they can make it attractive enough to justify purchasing it. Again...

 

Massive fan of the original. IMO far better than the SE. But saying that, I already own the OT about 6 times in various formats/versions, and cant really justify buying it again. Not for the sake of a few scenes.
My theory is that they probably will release something for the 30th Anniversary, and if they dont, I might consider buying this version on Ebay.

No interest in buying this latest "grab for cash", oh sorry, DVD offering.

As for the 30th Anniversary, I'll only get it if it's the original trilogy as we first saw them 30 years ago. But my guess is they'll box all 6 together for the first time - I can see the sales point now:

"The Star Wars Saga as it was meant to be, all 6 episodes in one Limited Edition 30th Anniversary Box set".

 

Er... I didn't realise there was a new DVD release!

That was me simply mentioning how much I saw them for at the local shop, I have since seen them cheaper but still ain't going to buy them.

 

Wouldn't buy them if they were in the $5 bargain bin, purely on principle.

That was what I thought as well. I decided to keep the answers simple rather than have 5 answers for yes and 5 for no.

 

I own it on VHS, DVD, VCD and several other formats.

If I buy it again I'm going to have to tattoo a sign on my head saying 'sucker'. I'd prefer not to make that fact so obvious.
