Did Lucas make Anakin whiny on purpose?

Palps would win by having him one step closer to the dark, true. But that's all. One step. One battle. He may have won the battle, but not the war (as is proven in the end). And don't forget that Luke did give in and we saw he didn't fall because of it.

Hm, no, I think Luke wanted to kill Palpatine all the time. He restrained himself because he was too proud to strike an unarmed man. His sense of honor held him back.

I don't mind if people disagree with me about that. They're entitled to think differently if they wish so.

Morally, yeah, he defeated Palpatine. Physically (which is far more important, but you needn't agree with that) - no. You may have noticed I'm a pragmatist. High ideals aren't as important to me as people.

Palps is a bad looser. He's so megalomaniac he can't take failure anymore.
