Did Luke have a sparring partner between ESB and ROTJ?

I had half a mind to post this in the EU forum, but I think that this may well come down to speculation, in which case I'd like it here.

So, first, did Luke have someone/thing to spar with? Secondly, if not, does that not shock you?

Any answer no matter how far-fetched is appreciated.

 

Shadows of the Empire covers the time from when Luke built his new saber right up until the beginning of ROTJ. After completing the saber, he swung it around a few times for practice, but apart from that, the only times he used it were in actual combat. From memory, he fought a swoop gang on Tatooine, some bounty hunters that tried to capture him for Vader, and in Xizor's palace.

 

Yeah, I have that book but never read it all the way through. Can't stand all of the flying.

He should have had a robot fighter I think. Going in there cold?

Crazy. Just shows you that in the Star Wars Universe sword fighting is all about the Force, though sometimes Force and sword fighting are portrayed separately.

 

I believe he trained with Mace Windu on Haruun Kal...

 

Mace is dead by then.

Coolest thing about a sparring partner in Shadows of the Empire is that in the novel Darth Vader spars with some of those Asp droids
