I thought it was funnier when R2D2 rolled through it.

    No

I thought how awful it was to step in poo walking into town. Not a very good omen!

I didn't mind Jar Jar stepping in poo, what I didn't like though was when Qui-gon fell into the poo and started laughing. When he flung it at Padme, and she started flinging it back, that was a little too much for me. :p

Okay, that didn't happen, but it wouldn't surprise me if Lucas put it in the next definitive release five years from now. Poo humor is the lowest form of humor out there.

I actually thought it was one of the best Jar Jar moments in the film. It made me forget just how much I hate him....for a second....I think.

BTW I thought he said Icky Yucky goo. As if he wasn't quite sure what he had just stepped in.

It didn't bother me. I chuckled actually, in the theater when he stepped in it and so did the audience. It's really no worse than the Chewie "Tarzan" yell or the Sarlacc belch or any of the other juvenile humor throughout the Saga.

Kansasfan is right - how do we know what he stepped in?

Besides, I actually think it makes Mos Espa look a bit more "scuzzy." Like if (this is an example I used in another board/thread) Luke, upon entering the cantina in ANH, scraped his feet on the doorway and gave a "great - look what I steped in" look, it just makes the place seem more slum-like or filthy for lack of any better comparison. It conveys very subtely: overcrowded living conditions, carelessness, a social ambivalence, and the type of characters one will run into in this place.

As the poster above said, it was a bad omen. I remember thinking the first time I saw this, and he stepped in that, "Haha - this isn't going to be as easy as they thought." It just highlighted not only the city's filth, but also Jar Jar's bumbling. Things do not bode well.

And all the kids in the theater got a laugh - so it worked.

I don't have any great objection to Jar Jar stepping in poo. I have dogs and if you don't let them out often enough the same thing can happen to you.

Maybe they could replace the floating pear Natie eats in AOTC with a piece of poo? :p

Better that JJ step into it then any of the others. ;)

Qui Gon: "this space port isn't going to be pleasant".

Jar Jar found out the hard way. Is that soft way?[face_mischief]

Does poo really have a place in the Star Wars films? I think the prequals are pretty good, but the humour in them is terrible, think of the scene in AOTC when 3PO gets his head knocked onto another droids body. I cringe everytime I see that, ruined the battle, and people say this film is dark?

This is an example of the terrible humour in the prequels? I didnt think it was meant to be funny, I thought it was just Jar Jar standing in some bantha ****, and poor Jar Jar wasnt wearing any shoes.

It was meant to be funny, and it failed because this isn't the type of humor which should be in Star Wars.
