Anyone know of anywhere planning too convert to digital yet???

I know there aren't any yet, but someone might just before AOTC comes out.

    Cheers,

I dont think it wil happen anytime soon. Definitely not before AotC. Perhaps, if we are lucky, someone might do it before Ep3.

Without movies filmed with digital cameras, there really isnt much incentive to spend the money to go digital, so until more digital movies come out, nothing will be done.

Additionally, because we are a small market, it is going to take longer for the cinema owners to invest for the upgrade.

AOTC I imagine, will give the digital a push.

Would 3 years be enough for Australia to get the projectors and other equipment needed?

Seeig as though there are bugger all THX Approved cinema's in Australia, there being 3 places that are approved, if it took us this long to get 3 places approved, it'll take us about another 10 years to get three digital cinemas

I think we should campaign- I'm going to. You know, write to cinemas or corporations, or just generally complain about the quality of screens. I think of quality of Village Hoyts in the centre of Sydney is sub-par for a cinema in the middle of a city.

That's because no-one ever goes there anymore; better cinemas at Fox.

Besides, the screeens are pretty good in their larger cinemas. I was at the premiere of Fellowship of the Ring there, and the seating, sound and screen was excellent.

    I agree about Fox cinemas.

I saw LOTR on George St. in one of the bigger theatres and the screen quality was good, though the sound was too harsh/loud. But I saw Ice Age yesterday on George St (in one of the smaller theatres) and was disappointed in the quality of the SW trailer- sound and visual- wise.
