I did not listen to the man and I did not care for the plots of world domination. It seemed like a big joke and that did not concern me or even amuse me. I saw this entire thing as pointless and I was not having fun. Instead, I'm merely going to look through my deck until its time to enter the grand hall. Looking down at me clothes and then at everyone else. They were so different, and not just from me, but from everyone else too.

Meh. I put my sunglasses on and went through the hall and smoothed back my hair. Nobody can tell me anything. I am here and no one can stop me. I ain't trying to hear no old guy talk and I'm not interested in everyone else. I got one thing on my mind: VICTORY. Pulling out my cellphone, I'm going to call my boy, Stefen, and tell him what's good.

"What up man? Whatchu up to?...Nothing. Man these people here don't stand a chance against me...Yeah, I told you so, man. I'm dominating this thing...I'm going to holla at you later...Yeah...

    Laterz.

IC: Moe, Toshiko Sato, in the castle.

The Anglo-Japanese woman, scantily clad in pink and white, crept awkwardly down the castle corridor, mindful of the myriad shadows cast by flickering wall sconces, and the loud clack of her heels on the hard floor.

Would it kill them to have carpeted this place? She asked herself silently.

    Twelve hours earlier...

At nine-foot high, the Sentinel towered over the white porcelain sink in the hotel room, up to his wrists in warm soapy water, trying to wash the blood out of Toshiko?s outfit.
Wherever the diminutive Japanese woman had been before he had accepted this assignment, she had been fatally shot with some kind of slug-thrower, and there had been a lot of blood. The water was red with it.

The Sentinel, his overlapping strips of armour clanking against the front of the sink, stopped. The squished lumps of sodden cloth in the sink were a lost cause, he felt.

There was a shuddering gasp from the bed, and he looked round to see the nubile young thing arch her back under the thin yellow covers, her eyes wide for the first time since she had died.

Moe turned from the sink, watching as her body let go and landed flat on the bed, the diaphanous covers settling over her.

?Morning, Tosh.? He greeted, leaning back against the sink.

That sat her up, offering him the briefest view of her décolletage before the startled female grabbed a handful of cloth and pulled it up to her throat. ?Where am I?? She demanded, shrill with the shock.

    ?Germany.?

    ?Germany?!?

?European country above Italy. Known for it?s beers, quality cars, and not having a word for ?fluffy?.?

She nodded at that, apparently satisfied. ?Oh. Germany.? She stared off into space. Well, more hotel room than space; it?s a figure of speech.

Moe watched her patiently. This was going to be slightly more complicated than the RPF versus EUC tournament, or rather the bringing the client up to speed would be.
He headed over and sat on the foot of the bed, far enough that he was not quite invading her personal space, although it still listed heavily in his direction, Moe sighed. This was thirty minutes he was not going to see again.

?Toshiko Sato. Torchwood Three operative, based in Wales. You were shot and killed in the line of duty.?

?I know.? Toshiko admitted in a small voice. ?I was there.?

?You have been re-activated. You now work for Torchwood Four.?

As the words rolled over her, her eyes widened. The Torchwood Institute, originally created by Queen Victoria to protect and defend the British Empire, had four bases in the British Isles. Torchwood One had been London, before it was destroyed in a combined Cyberman and Dalek invasion; Torchwood Two had been Glasgow, Scotland. Three had been hers. And Four...

?Jack. Jack said ?Four had disappeared.?

?Like you, we got promoted. We try to intervene early, hence this mission to infiltrate the tournament being held here. You ever watch Casino Royale??

?I got the book out the library once.? She did not seem at all fazed by his appearance. ?Double-Oh-Seven enters a high stakes card game to disrupt the progress of a gambler trying to raise money to fund organised crime. The recent movie re-make stayed contemporary by intending the money for terrorists,? She stared into space again, ?and drokk only knows what was going on in the David Niven version.?

?Your knowledge makes this easier, Toshiko. One of the contestants is a broker and fund raiser for the ?456?, which is an extra-terrestrial force, so named by Earth authorities because that was the radio frequency they transmitted their demands on.?

?And I?m here to find out who??

The glowing red eyes shone out of the dark recesses of the metal cowl as the Sentinel shook his head. ?Negative. Your mission here is to win, Miss Sato. We believe that is the best way for you to disrupt the deal. Should you fail, J

    IC: Lady Brown
    Kiwi Corp. Castle

Radella stood on the edge of the crowd, her powder blue dress flowing out from under her as she swayed her hips in a singsong manner. For those that were unfamiliar with her mannerisms, the movement might have replicated the motion of one having to use the restroom, but in reality, Lady Brown was just simply immersed with her surroundings. Very much a child at heart, Radella was all about the love of the card game and she took great stock in the current gathering of players and spectators. The opening speech of the tournament was moving in its own right, but the speech itself wasn't the only thing she was obsessing over at the current time. There was a certain dark and handsome stud standing atop the platform and delivering said speech. A champion in his own right, this mysterious "R" character was a perfect match for her quest. If there was a happily ever after, he was it.

His riveting speech came to a close and the crowd exploded with applause. Radella was shaking like a leaf by this point, so consumed by the electricity in the room that she could no longer contain it. With a shaky breath, she inhaled and began to scream and shout along with the crowd, clapping her hands together with vigor. "Oh, how wonderful!" she beamed and twirled away from her current position, her skirt tails swirling about her like she was a giant top.

A particular tune came to mind and she began to hum to herself as she dispersed through the crowd, skipping as she went on her way. For the moment, all was perfect in the world, but there was still one item that would make it even better. She wanted to share her happiness with "R" and with determination, she pushed herself towards the platform. Reaching into her purse and still humming, Radella produced some 'pixie dust' from a hidden compartment and began sprinkling it over everyone she passed.

"All it takes is faith and trust!" she recited as she passed through the crowd. "When I sprinkle pixie dust!"

IC: Toshiko, Kiwi Incorporated Castle, fourth floor.

She had noted a commotion outside, below in a courtyard, as a man took centre stage and apparently entertained a large crowd of people.

She could not hear through the window, nor open it, but at least it explained why she had not encountered anyone inside yet. Perfect time to try this guano out.

With a quick glance up the long corridor to confirm that it was empty, she stood in the centre, facing down it, feet shoulder width apart. The shoes did not pinch her feet at all; Moe had chosen her size perfectly, and apparently gone up one.
She giggled at the last words. Jack, the mysterious Jack Harkness, who knew more about extra-terrestrials than was decent, even for Torchwood, would have made that sound dirty. Oh, I?ve gone up one, alright.

She thought about the female alien who had seduced her last year, took a deep breath, and pulled the topmost card from the pack on her left forearm, strapped over the sleeve of the short jacket.

Before her, appeared a translucent form of some kind of legless humanoid squid thing, white with long flexible spines of the same colour, tipped in dark blue. The spines, and arms flowed as if in water, although it was in the air in front of her, and the whole thing appeared to be illuminated from within, brightest within the slim torso and the twin mounds of its?, her, breasts.

Within seconds of appearing, the smooth, almost featureless face looked left, right, then turned back to her, flowing right up to her face, as if sniffing her.

"Okay," Tosh wondered aloud, trying to keep from panicking, "now what?"

Now if this was Mary, it would be trying to pluck my heart out about now.

As if reacting to something she had said, and the scientist was quick enough on the uptake to realize what it was reacting to, the being reared back with it?s right elbow, and made to thrust it's open and viciously long-nailed hand towards her chest!

Stop! Sato shouted mentally, to which it immediately relaxed, arm dropping to its side as the long spines growing out the back of its? head and back, flowed on invisible current.

?Okay, that?s cool. You react to my thoughts.?

She noted it?s black-eyed gaze traveling down her form, to the flagstones. ?Yes yes, I know I?ll need to get a mop and bucket, before anyone comes along and realizes how scared I got just then.?

The apparition brushed past her right shoulder, and floated quickly up the corridor behind her.

"And, you react to what I say." She continued, also noting that it was casting white reflections along the shiny fixtures as it went.
It rounded a corner to the left, and within moments, it had returned, the required wooden handled mop, and a yellow plastic bucket, sans soapy water, held in each hand.
The alien stopped before her. She assumed it was waiting for instruction.

?Well,? Tosh put her fists on her hips like a inquisitive urn, ?now I know how Mickey felt in the Sorceror?s Apprentice.?

Alright, so it has been one week and it is time for an update. Thank you for those that posted, and for those that didn't, it is not a problem. Feel free to catch up right now. :)

    -_-_-_-_-_-_-

?And this special commemorative card shuffler can be yours for just three easy payments of thirty-nine ninety-nine. Once again, this tribute to the multiverse-famous R can be yours for just three payments of thirty-nine ninety-nine. Call now.? The television fades from the order screen to show Weir and Betta Thanue on screen. Weir is bouncing his legs impatiently while Betta is sporting a rather dashing bandage to the head, no doubt from Yan?s battle-axe attack the previous day.

Weir began speaking. ?Welcome back to our twenty-four seven coverage of the UMF Tournament. We just got done watching a captivating night of the Battler?s sleeping and let me say, were any of you as surprised as I was that Marcus Fairholme sucks his thumb?? Weir looked questioningly at Betta, who returned a very bewildered look.

?Weir? I? I think that you have had too much coffee? it?s scattered your brains.?

    ?Oh, really??

?Yeah? Marcus Fairholme doesn?t suck his thumb?..?

?Oh, really? well? this is embarrassing.?

?Don?t worry, Weir.? She patted his hand comfortingly. ?No one cares that you suck your thumb.? Weir shot a glaring look at Betta before speaking.

?Well?. we have cameras all over the castle, and let me say, the one in Miss Belle?s room last night was most?? Betta cut him off with a look. ?What??

    ?Weir, that?s disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.?

?Don?t you judge me!? He said, pointing accusingly. ?But, fine, I am going to? uh? go over some footage for? uh later.? Weir slipped off screen as Betta rolled her eyes at him.

?Anyways, while Weir?. Is busy being Weir, we return to the tournament. The Battlers have just woken up, and the day of battles has begun! We see that R, who got an early start, dragged a poor twelve year old out of bed already and has severely trounced him. And, it seems some more challenges are being made, so let?s take a look and see how these events unfold? oh, wait, what is this? It seems we are being graced with the famous Bob, creator of Underground Fighting Monsters. It seems he has something to say to the battlers who have once again assembled in the courtyard.?

The screen flashed to an elderly man. He was kindly looking and hunched over. His white hair was fluffy and soft, and he squinted around the crowd through his round glasses on his nose. When he spoke, his voice was weak, but filled with kindness. ?My dear friends, I thank you for being here. When I started this game, all those years ago, I had one aim? to make money by creating a children's card game and marketing it to older teenagers and adults. However, as I have aged, I have learned that there is far more to life. As I sit, retired on the millions I have made, it occurs to me that there is more to life than the collection of immeasurable funds. It is important that we enjoy the companionship we have here today, as passionate lovers of this lovable game. So, remember this one thing," He held up his index and middle finger and shook it slightly in the air. It took him a moment to figure out he had too many fingers up, and so he pulled one down. It took him another moment to realize he'd put down the wrong finger. He corrected that, and now had his index finger waving in the air to emphasize each word. "Now, remember this. Trust in the primordial essence of the cards, and the best of luck to all!? The man smiled kindly, waved amiably, and shuffled off to his private helicopter where he was quickly removed back to his mansion in the hills of England.

?Now, that was a captivating speech. I must say, I am looking forward to the next few weeks.?

From off-screen came a rather distracted-sounding Weir. ?Indeed we are, Betta.? Betta glared at Weir before rolling her eyes.

"Well, before we go to the battler's this has been Weir and Betta Thanue for ESTC. Here's a look at the current Leader Board."

The armoured and dark-robed Sentinel was channelling the Day Walker as he stood in the shadow of one of the castle?s entrance arches, watching the gathering of battlers on the dewed early morning grass, listening to some old guy who had apparently invented this game.

He stood stock still, in the shadow of the brickwork, as if the glare of direct sunlight would turn him to ash.
Heh, if the sun even thought about doing that, it better come out from behind its cloud and apologise.

The contestants for this event were much more diverse than for the Lightsabre Tournament, where everyone was a tortured Sith, tortured jedi, or,?I dunno what you are, but I dig the ears.

Here, there were children, adults with a decent smattering of females among them; a, a womp rat? Some big furry fragger, in any case.
He did not know one was getting ready to abandon the competition, even before the breakout of hostilities, but he could see someone had brought their heavy chest out with them, instead of leaving it in the suite, leaving the many-legged thing on the lawn.

He stared impassively for a moment, absorbing the fact that the thing sported dozens of little fat legs. An odd direction to go in, after Samsonite, but who was he to judge?
He wasn?t even from around here.

Moe looked for his girl. The one he was responsible for.

There she was, at the back of the crowd. Oh whoops, she had her gun out, he could see.

    * * * *

Tears coursed down Toshiko?s face as she regarded the back of everyone?s heads.

    She was remembering Owen. Dead.

    Herself. Shot in the back.

So, one of these was really a collaborator with the 456, as Moe insisted?
She could end this right now, take them all out. Get them before they got her.

She raised the gun, the red laser sight-beam invisible in the daylight, but she could see the defined crimson spot creeping up the right shoulder of dark blue trenchcoat, one adorning a red flame on the centre. Red on navy; an unusual colour combination.

    It. Would. Be. So. Easy.

    Whup whup whup whup-whup-whup-whup-whup-whup

The downdraft from the retreating Airwolf-style (black body, white underside) helicopter?s rotor blades, kicked up a lot of leaves and air, and as she was forced to break out of her mind-lock to keep her skirt from flapping up about her hips, she realised what she had been thinking about.

The Torchwood operative quickly holstered her weapon, and re-assessed her intentions.
She had heard about this; why the British police retired their dogs if they had gotten stabbed or shot in the line of duty.
It had been found that canines, once they suffered such injuries, decided, off their own back, to change the rules.
Though they were trained to attack and worry the offender?s arm, if they ever again encountered an individual holding the same kind of weapon as had wounded them, they went for the throat.

Yeah, I?ll worry you. I?ll bite your ******* head off!

She was being the dog! Hell, no. She was winnng this competition as a battler, not as the crazed Gun-slinger.

    Cry your pardon, Gunslinger.

?Right.? She said softly, and then when nobody reacted, raised her voice to attract attention. ?Right. I am here and ready for battle.? Her intense glower jumped from Jerimiah to Lady Radella to Tiffany. Countless others. ?Face me... or. I. Am going to. Breakfast.?

Morning. Jeremiah hated mornings. They were the moments when he was pulled out of sleep, which he loved, and they were before he ate, which gave him energy. Yawning loudly, he gave a big stretch after he dressed for the day. Taking a look at the thing on his arm, he became determined to do his best. This determination was short lived as a loud sound erupted from his stomach.

"Oh, man!" he said to himself. "I'm useless when I'm hungry." Hitting the underside of his right fist into his left hand he looked up with determination. "Okay. First food. Then the I'll head to the courtyard."

One large meal later, Jeremiah had his confidence and boisterous nature back. Finding himself in the courtyard, he gazed around him at the other duelers. Today was the day, they would finally begin their matches. This wasn't the first tournament he'd been in. Why, it reminded him of the City Wide Dueling tournament in his hometown. A daring adventure filled with a mysterious cult of occult followers trying to take over the city through a children's card game. To his mind, it went by "The One Where Not Even Fortune Tellers Could Predict Their Failure".

As he was looking over his opponents, an elderly man entered the area and began to speak.

It took him another moment to realize he'd put down the wrong finger. He corrected that, and now had his index finger waving in the air to emphasize each word. "Now, remember this. Trust in the primordial essence of the cards, and the best of luck to all!? The man smiled kindly, waved amiably, and shuffled off to his private helicopter.

It was only after the man had left that Jeremiah realized it must have been the creator of the game. To have met such a legend and not even realize it, but the past was the past. He didn't even feel the glare of the woman behind him. Nor did he hear the first sound she made a few moments later. No, he was still lost in thought, trying to determine who he would challenge to a duel first. He had just decided he would challenge the first person seemed open to one when,

?Right. I am here and ready for battle.? A woman's voice. But while it was loud enough to hear, he couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from. He was scanning the area when it continued. ?Face me... or. I. Am going to. Breakfast.?

HAHA! Breakfast! It was a woman who knew her priorities, at least. But which woman had said this? Looking around, his eyes focused onto the face of a young woman with shoulder length pink hair and a small amount of makeup on her face. Standing slightly behind and to the side of him. She must be the source of the voice. Standing taller and squaring his shoulders, he stepped forward towards her.

"I heard your challenge, young lady, and I gladly accept! Prepare to duel!" he commanded as he activated the thing on his arm and drew his hand. There was no turning back now.

    Maximilian Von Trap

It was very early in the morning when Maximilian woke up. He yawned, though not because he was tired, having only slept a few hours, but rather because he had grown quite bored with sleeping, and had decided to move onto something else, as was usually the case, besides, he couldn't look at himself while he was sleeping, and spending long periods of time away from a mirror made him begin to miss himself.

He showered and spent quite a long time in the bathroom in front of the mirror, preparing himself for the day. Not that he needed to really spend any time in front of it, given that he was nearly perfect in every way already. He slicked his hair back and wore a long sleeve white shirt with a high frilly collar, a blue ribbon tied in a bow around his neck, and a brown vest. He decided on pants today, a dark brown, and a pair of loafers. deciding to stop in the mirror once more before heading to the courtyard, he decided a little make up wouldn't hurt, the fangirls always did seem to swoon slightly more when he had it on.

When he did get to the courtyard, an old man was speaking, who he promptly ignored, and began instead to examine his perfectly manicured fingernails. He was very engrossed in this when a young lady on the side of him suddenly burst out, snapping him back to reality.

?Right. I am here and ready for battle.?
she glowered around in a most unattractive manner.

Maximilian rolled his eyes a bit and took a step away from her. She was not being very fabulous at this point, and he would rather not be associated with her, or, worst of all, be actually forced to defend his honor against her, of all people.

?Face me... or. I. Am going to. Breakfast.?

Maximilian took that as his cue to leave, but before he could, a rather tall young man turned on him suddenly and took a step towards him, crowding what Maximilian considered to be his personal space, which would be, to any other person, a reasonable distance. The man rose to his full height and shoved a finger into(12 inches from) Maximilian's face and bellowed, "I heard your challenge, young lady, and I gladly accept! Prepare to duel!"

Maximilian's eye twitched slightly, partly at being called a young lady(although he did embrace the ambiguity of his appearance, to be addressed as something so completely unremarkable as 'young lady' was more than he could normally tolerate), and partly at being bound by his honor to accept this challenge, and partly because he was unsure exactly why the man thought he had challenged him in the first place, until he finally put the pieces of 'young lady' together.

Taking a step back, he placed his hand on his chest with his fingers arched wide.

"Perhaps you should learn to control your excitement before it gets you into trouble," he said. "Unfortunately for you, I shall have to be the one to teach you that lesson. Prepare yourself!" he exclaimed, as his deck appeared out of nowhere with a flourish of his wrist, and his arm thingy activated in what, I can assure you, was a very fabulous manner, despite being a normal, standard issue arm thingy.

The young woman seemed shocked by Jeremiah's outburst, taking a step back and placing her hands upon her chest. Perhaps she hadn't been the one who had issued the challenge, she certainly didn't seem as if she'd expected someone to approach her as he had. It was unfortunate, though. Jeremiah had challenged her and he would not back down from what he'd said.

"Perhaps you should learn to control your excitement before it gets you into trouble," he said. "Unfortunately for you, I shall have to be the one to teach you that lesson. Prepare yourself!" she said as she gave a wild and effeminate flourish, producing her deck and placing it into her arm thingy in a manner that was more FAAABULOUS than anything.

OUTRAGEOUS, this young lady's voice seems deeper than her appearance would suggest. Does the poor thing smoke six packs a day? Jeremiah thought as he positioned himself the appointed distance from his opponent. The gap between them would represent the playing field for the battle.

"I'll go first." he announced as he glanced at his hand, and drew the card off the top of his deck. A smirk crossed his face. "I'm sorry, miss, but I'm the one who will be teaching you about the true value of power spirit!"

Jeremiah placed a card into the Fighter slot of his arm thingy. Suddenly, the holographic projectors began to work as two large objects began to rise from the ground. It quickly became apparent that these were atop giant metal arms as the rest of the giant machine rose from the ground. Its arms were folded together in a defiant pose. "With Gunbuster here, I'll show you the true power of mankind!"

    [image=http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/3986/gunbuster.jpg]

"I shall also place a response card face down, then end my turn." He stated as he placed a card into the response slot.

Let's see how you respond to that, girly.

Charles Cornelius Godfrey III (sorry I left out the last name in my character sheet)

Charles awoke at precisely 8am, a full hour before the Deutsche Borse opened. The crisp German castle air smelled of adrenaline and undervalued equities ripe for takeovers. Zing!

He slid out from under the lavish silk sheets, and put on one of many Turnbull & Asser shirts exposed only by the low gorge of his bespoke Ermenegildo Zegna suit. Hmm, first day. Better put on the bespoke socks for effect. Complete the Master of the Universe look.

Briefly pausing to check his arm thingy, he exited his quarters into the courtyard. Unable to get the damn thing to show the Nikkei, he made a mental note to call tech support as he surveyed his surroundings. An old gentleman was speaking on cards and -

Ding ding! Did I hear the word 'millions'? 'Funds'? Charles' money radar went off, and like a UBS Private Wealth Manager on his fourth Red Bull, he made a mad dash for the gentleman who, like Timothy Geithner the US Treasury Secretary, nobody was paying attention to anyways.

Too little, too late, as the gentleman took off in his private helicopter. Fortunately there was ample liquidity in the courtyard and a duel was brewing between some Marilyn Manson/Goku hybrid and a chick with pancake makeup.

Eager to jump into the fight to prove how cool he is, he threw his best taunt at the woman who was already visibly agitated at something or other. "I'm going long on your Credit Default Swaps, lady," he sneered.

    Kiwi Incorporated Castle Courtyard

The next morning found Danny arriving in the castle's courtyard, apparently late for some speech by an old man. By the time he realized that old man was the founder of the very game they were here to play, well, the helicopter was already a shrinking speck in the distance.

Less than a minute later, however, his attention was grabbed by a duel, likely the first of many, beginning. Quickly making his way over to the new source of entertainment, Danny arrived just in time to see a rather impressive looking robot put into play. Taking the brief gap in action as an opportunity to get a glimpse of who was playing the halfa turned to the first dueler.

The first thing that came to his mind upon seeing the first dueler was that he looked like he had just jumped out of one of those manga comics that everyone seemed to love, not that he did. The guy even came complete with a sword, though Danny doubted he could use it. After all, how many people these days actually knew how to use a sword?

Turning to the second dueler Danny tried to figure out what exactly was her underlying theme. 'Wait a minute...' he thought, taking a long look. His eyes suddenly went wide with realization, as he realized that the she was actually a he. The man was wearing make up, wore his hair long and had dyed it pink, and had seemingly done just about everything to make himself look more feminine. Eyes wide as saucers, the halfa began taking a few slow steps backwards to his original viewing area...

Just the kind of opponent Maximilian liked. Straight on. The man seemed oblivious to just about everything, but Maximilian knew not to get overconfident, as opponents could be cunning fighters despite appearances. Speaking of appearances, Maximilian had some keeping up to do. It seemed a small crowd had gathered around, and he wasn't about to waste an opportunity to catch a few eyes.

In the crowd, a young man seemed to be checking him out, and who wouldn't, he had the most aesthetically pleasing face on the planet. Suddenly, the boy realized what he was looking at, and took a step back, seemingly put off. Maximilian allowed a slight grin to pass over his face, and shot a wink at him, hoping to further the uneasiness the young man must have been feeling, then, without wasting any more time, he drew his first card with a flourish.

"we shall see how well the power of mankind stands against the power of the undead. I place Alucard Tepes, Prince of vampires, in defense position!"

Raising the card high above his head between his index and middle finger, he slammed it down into his arm thingy, and the ghostly white, fantastically dressed form of Alucard rose from the ground, and hovered there supernaturally.

    Card: Alucard Tepes

    Effect-Form of Mist
If this card is destroyed in ATK position, all damage to the player is negated but the card is still placed in the graveyard
    ATK/900 DEF/3500

"I, too, will play a response card in the face down position, and end my turn."

Maximilian's game was about pulling his opponent in, and he would never dream of attacking first. Besides, he had to give the impression that he didn't have enough physical power to match the testosterone filled Jeremiah.

"Let's see what that manpower can really do," he said, hoping to coax his opponent into aggression, which didn't seem entirely too hard.

EDIT: I just edited the wording of The Form Of Mist effect. Hopefully that clears up any confusion there might have been as to what it does.

Jeremiah watched as the woman continued to act in a manner that could only be described as feminine. She made wide arcing movements with her hand as she drew the top card from her deck. All of this pomp and circumstance annoyed Jeremiah. He wanted to duel, not put on a show. While his manliness and aura of confidence would naturally draw a crowd, the acting of the woman in front of him only served to slow down the game.

"we shall see how well the power of mankind stands against the power of the undead. I place Alucard Tepes, Prince of vampires, in defense position!"

With another fabulous flourish, the woman slammed her card down. Suddenly a ghostly pale image a someone with long white hair dressed very elegantly appeared on the field.

"HA HA!" Jeremiah laughed, "Are you sure that isn't the Princess of vampires?"

His opponent ignored his outburst, however, choosing to continue with play.

"I, too, will play a response card in the face down position, and end my turn."

"Let's see what that manpower can really do."

"HA! I would like nothing more than that, miss. But even I can see your girlish vampire's defense is too high."

Pulling his next card from his deck, he gave a big smile. "OUTRAGEOUS fortune!" he declared. "I summon Kittan to the field in attack position, then I shall equip him with an Arte card, Unlimited Blade Works, which raises his ATK to 1900."

Suddenly, a man with spiky blonde hair and green eyes appeared on the field next to the Gunbuster. He looked around before settling in on his enemies. As soon as the arte activated, a spiral burst of energy swarmed around him, moving into his hands. The energy began to form several different swords and other bladed weapons before it seemed to decide on two massive drills.

    [image=http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/817/kittan.jpg] [image=http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/403/unlimitedbladeworkst.jpg]

"With that I shall place another response card face down and end my turn."

So his opponent was smarter than he looked. He could at least read the cards in front of him. He drew his next card with the usual fanfare.

"All right, bright eyes, let's see how you handle this."

Maximilian laid down a second fighter card.

IC: Toshiko Sato, Kiwi Incorporated Castle courtyard.

The breath caught in her throat as the first figure to react to her voiced challenge, started to turn in her direction. From her diminutive stance, it was like seeing the unstoppable and unavoidable iceberg from the prow of the Titanic. That jingled.

Then Jeremiah Prideson went and returned the challenge to the wrong woman! One better attired for the chill of a German dawn, she noted with a tinge of envy, but that was not a situation Tosh could improve without stripping the bed and going toga.

Well, at least that freed her for a sortie to the breakfast room; she hoped the fare to be more substantial than a mug of hot chocolate and a croissant. Right now, she would pay for a Full English - sausages, baked beans, fried eggs - holographic lines from one of the combatants' card dispenser started drawing the vector frame for a bipedal grey robot that had definite Japanese manga leanings.

Interesting, she observed silently, he put his first card in that slot on the arm device first. She hadn't known about that during the previous' night's practice session, and nor had Moe, or he had skipped it. And it triggered the holo-projectors.

She raised her left forearm and studied the PVC-cinching dispenser with new respect. After breakfast, she would see about getting some tools off the castle handy-man, to open the thing up; see what other little secrets it was hiding. On the other hand, her Watcher, as she had started to think of her mentor, had to be good for something.

She tapped her ear-comm, and it was a moment before she realised she no longer had one. The action had become automatic after all these years. Her opposite wrist held a metallic communication band called a wrist-link, that Moe had provided her with, which, in all honesty, she thought looked pretty crap in comparison: "Moe."

"Toshiko. I saw you put the gun away; good girl. Is everything okay?"

"Yeah," She sighed, allowing her gaze to wander from the posturing of Jeremiah and Von Trap around the group turning their attention to the active battlers. "There is a blue whale out here!" She stared at Charles.

"Uh, say again. Sounded like 'blue whale'."

After a moment, Toshiko diverted her attention from the spectacle, and glared accusingly at her wrist-link, since, at the moment, it was Moe-by-proxy.

"You don't know what a whale is, do you?"

"Not as such, no. Is it important?"

She paused, and took a deep breath. And another. This was no time to entertain pretensions of being the Discovery Channel.
"No. We will look through the Round Window another time."

"Do you want me to pull you out of the day's activities, Tosh? You sound...odd."

Touched by his concern, she looked towards where she had left him, and could see the tall enigmatic figure now visible, instead of skulking in the shadows. He looked read to come over to collect her.

"No. I will be fine. See if you can scare up some fine work tools. I want to get a look inside this arm thingy."

"That might invalidate the warranty." His voice warned.

    "It's not my warranty."

"Alright, I will see what I can do. Moe out."

"I'm going long on your Credit Default Swaps, lady." The financial wording drew the operative's attention, and she found herself staring through the expanding holographic army at the nattily-dressed land whale.

    Had she found her target?

Jeremiah stood proudly as his opponent had to rethink the situation for a minute. He didn't have anything on the field that would work against either of the fighters. So he had to wait, either rely on drawing a great card, or on the attack of his opponent activating the response.

"All right, bright eyes, let's see how you handle this." the woman said before placing down another card in attack position. It wasn't long before a very effeminate clown of androgynous design formed on the field. It appears fairly powerful, but the woman didn't follow through with it. She instead allowed for Jeremiah to keep Kittan on the field.

"I will lay another response card and end my turn here."

"I never figured you for a coward, miss." he challenged as he drew his next card. "HA HA!" he bellowed. "My luck continues to get better and better."

With that, he placed a fighter card into attack position. Soon, a hand appeared to fly in from nowhere, grabbing a hold on Gunbuster as the arm stretched out of view of the people. The arm swung around the cylindrical shoulders as the spectators could see it retracting. It wasn't long before a young boy with a red vest, blue denim shorts, and a strawhat came into view. He used the momentum to swing around the massive robot and land beside it, his proportions no longer stretched, and a goofy grin adorning his face.

    "I summon, Monkey D. Luffy!"

    [image=http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/4038/monkeydluffy.jpg]

"And now, Buster Machine. Use BUSTER BEAM ON KEFKA!"

As if on cue, the giant mech began to glow atop its head.

"I never figured you for a coward, miss."

Maximilian chuckled at the 'miss'. Perhaps not so cunning after all.

"Fools rush in," he said, calmly.

Jeremiah summoned a new fighter to the field, and Maximilian wondered if he was ever going to put his words into action. He yawned, hoping his bored appearance would antagonize the man he was dueling into an outburst that might cause a mistake. He hardly seemed to notice, but the attack came anyway.

"And now, Buster Machine. Use BUSTER BEAM ON KEFKA!"

Once again, Maximilian smiled mischievously. The beam rushed toward Kefka, with enough hit points to annihilate the mage. Maximilian slowly extended his arm in front of him and wagged a finger at his opponent.

    "Ah, ah, ah," he said.

A response card on the field activated.

Activated upon attack. Instead of attacking player's fighters, the fighter attacks a fighter on the opponent's side of the field of the response user's choice.

"Where are your manners? I'm not sure you've even signed Kefka's dance card. Perhaps Kittan would be a more suitable partner."

Suddenly, in the path of the beam where Kefka had been, Kittan stood wearing a Kefka mask. It fell to the floor and shattered, as the Buster Beam closed in...

"H-hey!" the opponent interrupted, as the holograms faded out of view. "You can only take one slice from me. That's the rule!"

"Rules...? Oh, you silly willy willy head!" Yan laughed innocently, covering her mouth as she did so. "You're in no position to argue about rules!"

"What do you mean...?" the boy started, before realizing he couldn't move his arm. Or anything. His eyes widened in horror.

"Oh... did I forget to mention...? I'm sooooowwwwyyyy... I almost forgot..."

Suddenly Yan's expression turned into a sadistic grin. "Every time you drew a card, one small part of your body was wrapped in ultra-thin steel wire. Now that you've drawn all your cards, you're, of course, immobilized. Unless you want to lose a limb!"

    "Y-you're insane...!"

    "Ah, ah, ah," he said.

A response card on the field activated.

"No!" Jeremiah called out as the beam closed in on Kittan. This would surely destroy the weaker card, causing point damage against him. That is, until his own counter response card activated. Suddenly, a large black orb covered the field, throwing everything into reverse colorization. The words rang through the courtyard:

    "ZA WARUDO!"

    [image=http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6118/zawarudo.jpg]

The Buster Beam slowly retracted back into the head of the Buster Machine, as Kittan found his way back to Jeremiah's side of the field. Once the attack was completed, the bubble shrank so that it only encompassed the woman opponent. Jeremiah could see a look of great annoyance on her face as the turn counter didn't acknowledge her turn, instead returning to Jeremiah.

It was a new turn for Jeremiah, that meant a new card. "OUTRAGEOUS! Why, this is just like my battle against some pointy haired fellow with multiple personalities and a flare for magic. The one I call 'The One Where 2 Against One Challenges None.'"

Jeremiah gave out a hearty laugh.

"But back to the game at hand. I sacrifice all of my fighters in order to summon a truly grand fighter!" He said as he removed all of his fighters to the graveyard and placed down the new card in attack position. Suddenly, both Kittan and Gunbuster lost their shadows. As the shadows flew around the arena, they eventually flew directly into Luffy who transformed into a massive blueish green monstrous form of himself.

He had almost recovered from his shock, but just that, almost. That was until the she that was actually a he noticed him and threw him a wink. And a wink was all it took to send him back into shock for the next minute or so. By the time he had recovered enough to take in the progress of the match several turns had gone by.

"...sacrifice all of my fighters in order to summon a truly grand fighter!"

His attention was drawn by that announcement, in time to see the holographic generators truly outdo themselves in bring the card's effects to life. If the display wasn't enough, the card's stats filled the gap easily. He would have to watch out for that one should he play a match with the it's owner during the tournament.

JUST A NOTE --Ramz and I are now creating NPCs for those of you not already battling. Like I said earlier, if unsure how to start, either send one of us a pm or look a BaSSiL and EmpireForever's battle. They are doing wonderfully. :) Battles will last one week from, well, this post. Winners will be determiend by a coin flip by ramza and myself. Best of luck, and have fun. :)

A large burly man moved through the crowd, pursuing his own purposes. He was dressed in a tight black tee that clung closely to his sculpted torso and a pair of jeans, loose fitting. His buzzed hair billowed in the breeze? don?t ask us how.

He scanned the crowd hungrily. There had to be someone?. Ah, there. His perfect prey. His gaze fell upon a young girl decked out in what appeared to be Jonas Brothers garb. She would be perfect. So young, so innocent. She seemed so defenseless, easy prey indeed. She would be perfect for? DEFEATING IN A CHILDREN?S CARD GAME!!

He smiled at that. He may be a bit older, but he found a great deal of enjoyment in this game, and was happy to be at this tournament. He was determined to win, and his kiwi slice count would very soon increase.

He moved up slowly to the girl, and when he was about fifteen feet behind her, he shouted in his deep, resonant voice, ?Come on GIRLIE, draw your deck! Yeah, YOU WITH THE? uh? Jonas Brothers or whatever. My name is Jackson Ray, and I CHALLENGE YOU!!! Come on, make your first move, unless YOU ARE TOO AFRAID!!?

The man ambled through the crowd. If you pay attention, we merely are starting with the same sentence and different words. Tricky of us, no? Well, anyways, the man ambled through the crowd? but we already said that. He had a gun holstered at his hip, and he seemed to walk with a roguish swagger. He was quite handsome? or so the female staff members tell us. His blue pants with those weird red dotted lines on them went nicely with his white shirt and black vest.

He came upon our dear Lady R (Ha, we figured that?d get a reaction from Yan down the road) and flashed her his most winning smile, the scar on his chin just further accentuating his pleasantness. ?Hey, beautiful. I seem to be a long way from home. Apparently this card game is where it?s at. Care to show me the ropes?? He flashed her another grin. ?Name?s Han Solo, by the way.? He then prepared to draw some cards and begin the battle whenever the older woman was ready. Wait? how did Han Solo get here? What? A falcon couldn?t carry him?.. oh, wait.. yeah, gotcha. So, apparently the Millennium Falcon is parked outside the castle. Go figure.

    TAG: HanSolo29

Eggbert moved through the crowd, munching hungrily on his fried fries and greasy burger. He loved fast food, and it showed. He was a pudgy boy, perhaps fifteen, and his face was grotesquely covered in pimples. He was short for his years, and wore thick spectacles that distorted his eyes. He waddled slightly, and he was a funny sight to behold. Despite his appearance, he was ranked in the top fifteen of Battlers multiverse wide.

As he weaved through the crowd, he was bumped by a man in a coat? or at least he thought. The grease on his glasses made vision difficult just now. Eggbert squinted up at him, upset that his fries had dropped to ground. He turned angrily to him and began speaking harshly? in his nasally and squeaky voice. ?Mister, you owe me more fries! But, a battle will have ta? do fu? now.? He waddled away briefly and made ready to draw his cards, waiting for the strange man to move first.

A young girl skipped through the crowd happily. She was maybe thirteen, and just pleased to be here. Her red dress was cutely cut, with a white jacket. It had just the appropriate amount of frills and trimming, and cut a rather attractive outfit. To top it off, she had a white belt lined with spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs? you know, the card suits? It was definitely a rather stunning suit.

Man, there sure were a lot of people here. Hoig could scarcely believe it, and when you?re a guy with naturally spiky green and blue hair, you tend to believe a lot of things with relative ease. Like the Eon Box he carried around. It didn?t matter what the men in the white coats said about Dissociative Personality Disorder, darn it, it contained the spirit of a long dead emperor of Timbuktu!

Where were all of his friends, anyway? He relied on his friends for friendly friendship in the misdt of?

Who are we kidding? This is obviously Yugi Motou in all but name only. Fill in the bloody details yourself. KTHANXBI.

Anyway, he came across some fellow who apparently was of the opinion he was the next Kanye West, or some sort. He glanced at his arm thingy, his expression switching to one of determination.

?If I want to see my friends again,? he muttered, ?I?ll have to beat R and win this duel.?

    ?HO-IG-UY!?

There was a bright flash and animation that was reused constantly, and suddenly he had gotten a lot older and more competent looking.

?I challenge you to a battle!? he roared, his Dan Green-like voice resonating loudly and plainly as he pointed at the hip hop fan. ?Do you accept?!?

?And thus we show that all the natural numbers are a subset of the integers!? the man suddenly yelled as he scribbled furiously on a notepad. The light glistened off his spectacles with an air of superiority, his blonde hair an unintelligible mess. Combined with his tweed blazer and lanky stature, he looked rather odd. Not that that ever bothered him.

?You there!? he said suddenly, pointing a finger at a pair of thieves, ?I challenge you to a card battle. I estimate there is a 99.9 repeating percent chance that you will accept, which, incidentally, rounds up to 100%. Therefore you accept my challenge!?

Reaching into the pocket of his tweed blazer, he withdrew a small remote, and pressed a button. With a rather loud ?clunk? the floor suddenly opened up beneath the man and his quarry, and they all found themselves in the midst of a large network of cells.

The shadowy figure had no need for names. He was cloaked in an impenetrable barrier of inky blackness. His identity was unknown to all save himself. And he rather objected to all the light that woman was giving off. That would not do.

Spoiler alert: This guy might just challenge her to a card battle. Calling it now.

?Excuse me, miss?? he said, floating/slinking over to the woman in the glitzy outfit, ?I?m afraid your presence has offended me greatly. I challenge you to a card battle??

    CALLED IT!

    ?In HELL!?

    Okay, didn?t see that coming.

He whipped back his cloak of darkness, revealing still more darkness. And the scenery around them faded out into a twisting, purple-black morass of bizarre fog.

?You must defeat me or be trapped here for one flogna.?

No one even knew how long a flogna was, but it was probably pretty impressive.

He supposed that he?d have to battle someone, so he sighed and set about the arduous task of eeny-meeny-miney-moe, before eventually landing on a large, blonde, Scandinavian looking fellow who looked like a Todd McFarlane creation.

    Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen
    The Castle Dungeon

    "Gods above."

    "You said it."

"So first we're interrupted from the Austershalin game, and now this?"

    "Of all the f-"

A hideous scream somewhere in the distance drowned out Lamora's curse.

Jean was already shuffling their deck of cards. Locke gave him a look that said in no uncertain terms, "What are you doing?"

The bigger man stopped, looking like the boy with his hand caught in the cookie jar. "You didn't expect to do this on your own, did you?"

"The rankings!" crowed Locke, waving his arms.

    Jean arched an eyebrow.

"Oh, you're right, to hell with it. But at least let me shuffle." Jean passed the deck into Locke's waiting hand. The slightly built man shuffled it quickly with one hand, a feat simultaneously hypnotically simple and maddeningly complex. He fanned the cards out. "Pick a card, Jean Tannen, any card!"

Obligingly, Jean did so. Locke compacted the deck back into one solid mass and set it down.

    "Locke, the arm thingy."

    "Oh, right. Gotcha."

And so they were ready. Jean handed Locke the card, who put in into play.

    "Ahhh, very nice. Right?"

"Looks like a good one. Damn, that is a good one."

    "Good."

The card read Five-Banded Bondsmage, and bore an image of a robed man pulling back his sleeve to reveal five black rings tattooed about his arm. The Bondsmagi of Karthain were ruthless sorcerers to the north of Tal Verrar, and they guarded fiercely (and violently) the secrets to their magic. The more rings on a Bondsmage's arm, the more powerful they were.
