Lg.Is, NY Dinner on Friday, Jan 20

Figured I should start the thread, mainly so I have something to link to on our site.

The location hasn't been picked yet, so start sharing ideas!

I'm going to vote for... steak! So Boulder Creek or Outback.

 

I like Outback just because I'm addicted to their Caeser salad.

 

I vote for Boulder Creek. I am not a big Outback fan. The food is too spicy. Is the Boulder Creek resteraunt the one near the Broadway Mall?

Yes, I'd say if it is Boulder Creek, it should probably be the one by Broadway Mall. Seeing as how we all already know where it is.

I know the Emperor would like a place that serves bee... ah, grown-up beverages on tap. So either of those is fine with him.

 

A cold frosty mug must be available.
I prefer Outback. But lets have loctions on both
listed to choose from.

 

Me likes any of those places. But something near the mall might be best for people to find and be hear public transportation. --Billy

 

It sounds like most of the votes are for Boulder Creek. Is there any discussion about the time? We can try to decide between 7 PM and 8 PM.

EDIT: I take that back. It seems I miscounted. The votes are evenly split. I guess I'll have to vote too... I pick Boulder Creek. Anyone else want to chime in?

 

I'm cool with either one--I've never been to a Boulder Creek--so that's fine with me too.

Maybe it should be at 8pm because didn't we have the last dinner at 7pm and it was a tight rush for some people getting out of work? That way everyone can take their time--me included.

 

We vote for dinner at 8 so everyone can get there after work
If the resturant is still up for discussion how about Olive Garden?

I dont mind Boulder Creek. I've eaten there before.
It was good. I'd like 7p/7:30pm I really dont
like eating really late. If plan plan on 8. Then
plates wont hit the table til 8:30/9

Neither do I. It always takes 30 - 40 minutes for the food to get to the table.

Another thing no one has really mentioned is that no matter where we go restaurants tend to be packed on friday nights no matter what time it is. So in addition to waitng for the food once we sit down we might be waitng a while just to get a table.

 

I understand Boulder Creek offers call-ahead seating; it's quite possible the other restaurants do as well. That should help reduce the wait time somewhat.

 

So Boulder Creek it is judging by the poll.
That's fine. Now we have to agree on the time.
Earlier we have it. We will have more time
together. Plus food wont hit the table after 9pm.

There's no way I can be at the restaurant at 6:30. I suspect I'll be able to leave my place at around 6:30, which would probably make me a bit late for 7:00. But that's just me.

If someone wants to get there at 6:30 and ask for a large table, that's perfectly fine. However, I think it makes more sense to do call-ahead seating and meet a little later.

Or do folks want to be seated at 6:30? That would be a pretty early dinner for me.

 

Huh. Well, as it turns out it seems I don't even have to leave work early to catch a train to Hicksville that would dump me there by 6:30. (You have to excuse me, I'm a mooooooron. ) But I don't care either way, I can join whoever's doing table-holding or wait for a later time if somebody does call-ahead seating.

 

I'm going to say 7. Looks like that is the best compromise!

If we do the call ahead, we need a final head count.
