As I'm sure many of you don't know, I've been working in secret with Lee from the AZ Book Festival (April 3rd). We have had special arrangements made for the PFF and Timothy Zahn to have dinner after the festival around 6pm. Here's a copy of the email I recieved from Lee today...!

    Joel,

Timothy's food preferences are American, Itialian or
Chinese. Nothing too spicy. Schedule it for around 6
    pm to 7 pm.

I know the Spaghetti Company has rooms for groups.
I'm not sure what else downtown does. I'd rather it
not be too expensive. Some of the other authors might
join us, too. How many of your group is likely to
    attend?

    Lee

So there you have it! I think the Spaghetti Company sounds like a good idea if Mr. Zahn prefers Itallian! Needless to say I need a list to start forming right here and now for how many people can attned so we can get the reservations made! I'll start!

Dude! I work until 5:30ish that day, but I'm all for trying to hang out around 6. The Spaghetti Company would be walking distance from Margaret T Hance Park, so it would make the most sense if you can get a reservation this late. Let us know as you know more!

    Excellent! :D

Okay, I'm sure there will be plenty of time to get out of costume/make-up between the festival and dinner. If you want to wear your costume to dinner, that's fine too. My guess is we can duck out of the Festival a little before it ends to get ready. I'll run that by Lee in my next email to him.

Here's who I've got so far.

    LP
    Sand-Dancer
    MexChewie
    Void
    Mick
    IA
    Ima_Princess
    Liquido
    Kreleia
    Commander Choad
Darth_Feldman (Is that a yes I'm going, Feldman?)

So... 11 right now. Keep posting and letting me know! I'll try to answer any questions as fast as I get emails from Lee. Thanks! :)

There was another question of price and payment. Well, I kind of figured we'd all pay for ourselves. I'm not entirely sure how expensive it is to eat there. Maybe I can get a price list from the Speghetti Factory.

Also, we might want to consider taking donations to pay for Mr. Zahn's dinner as a "thank you" to him. Possibly do the same for Lee. I'll leave that up to you guys. :)

Woot! :D :D Count me in. ;) As for the dinner arrangements, I wouldn't mind tossing in a few dollars to cover Mr. Zahn's dinner. :)

    My Email from Lee today...

    Joel,

I'll still be checking with the other authors to see
who is interested. Assume at least 10 others with
authors and other people working the festival.

The Spaghetti company does have special menus for
groups and it doesn't get overly expensive. The
festival is not at Margaret T. Hance park, though, so
it is not a short walk from the festival, but still
not that far (11th Ave & Washington).

    Lee

Okay, so here's what I did. I called the "Spaghetti Factory" on Central just south of McDowell, and found out that they DO take large groups. I will add 10 people to the list. The Festival is aproximately at 11th Ave. and Washington. So it's not a far drive at all.

hmmm... well I'm getting nervous. I'm not sure if I should go ahead and reserve for like 30 and if we go beyond that add as we go...? Advice anyone?

I would call the restaurant back and ask them how they would handle it. I'm guessing that as the date grows near, you're gonna get more people wanting to go. I think it might be wise to at least get a reservation on the books even if we need to adjust it numbers later.

Not a bad idea Princess. I just gave them a call and they said I need to fill out a reservation form on the spot and give them a 25 dollar set up fee. There's a group menu that we have to go off of too. I will go ahead and put down the 25 bucks. I'm going to reserve for 30 and tell them that might get larger. Seeing as how this might get complicated, I will likely put a cut off date on this well before the event. Not to leave anyone out, just to make things easier. I think April 3rd is far enough in advance to know if you can make it. The cut off will for sure be sometime AFTER the March 13th meeting. That's all for now. :)
