Oceania Discussion: Australia lacks a patriotic culture

I believe that Australia sadly lacks a patriotic culture, similar to what the United States, and even England has.

I don't want what America has. It has made them blind and full of argoance.

 

Yeah, of course. Have you met any Americans? Or are all Australians obtuse purveyors of stereotype?

Yes, I have. And I am sure you will now tell me not all American's are that way. So I will clarify: the American culture is blind and full or arrogance.

 

I hate to be picky but another word for full or arrogance is arrogant

Thanks for your clarification. It may seem trivial, but you'll upset a lot less people that way. Of course, you may like to elaborate on why you consider their culture to be blind and arrogant.

A lot of Americans are all too aware of how their culture is perceived. There are also those who are embarrassed by that perception. I have been told of young American travellers who will sew Canadian flags on their packs so as to avoid having to defend that perception of their country. Surely these people wouldn't fall under the category of being blind and arrogant.

To broadly generalise that all Americans are blind and arrogant is not only incorrect, but unfair.

 

I have nothing against Americans, just their government.

 

Patriotism is a vitue of the damned.
