JCC Discussion Time: Let's Talk About Drafts - next draft?

More than I knew in fantasy hockey the first time I played it. And I made the finals. And tied, but got the L because I had the lower seed (which has happened to me twice).
You could maybe get 3 of those guys on your team at once. Depending on views of Sting.

Well they are all former champs. Hogan, Giant and Taker probably all gone by pick 7 tho. And there are several non-champs I'd put over Mysterio.

 

now the fact that i don't know any of that should tell you something.

 

I don't know anything about wrestling and I don't want to.

 

Well, we're getting nowhere. At this point we might as well just do something. The only things on the table seem to be wrestling, comics, the undraft... Anything I'm missing?

 

So if we're gonna do this wrestling draft ...Maybe some rules/framework

Might I suggest

Draft ten ...

Send in eight numbers
One as a tag team (free trump)
One used add a manager (argue any manager rule to judges)
One prep ... used not to scout opponent, but to lay out a parameter for the match - EITHER a gimmick match your, or an event (useful if you had Undertaker to specify at Wrestlemania) or a location (useful if you have Ric Flair to specify Charlotte)

No draft list ... pick anyone who competed in pro wrestling ... even Dennis Rodman if you want him

Oh, about this.
I like the tag team idea and the manager idea. A woman's match? I think we had that last time. So the manager would essentially be the other prep... Which would mean Taker prepped is an auto-win.

That leaves 1 tag match, 2 "prep" matches per GM. So would that be a tag team taking up just 1 number then and no forfeit? But you could still tag another team if you wanted with a forfeit like a normal trump?

 

That was my thought. You could send out another team, and that would cost you a forfeit later on. And, if your tag team hit a single wrestler, you get a handicap match.

I know we had the women's match last time. I didn't like it. Like, at all.

 

Hm... Well would there be a separate manager list?

 

I'm fine with wrestling if there's enough interest.

 

Okay. Who will your opponent be?

 

Let's just do another comic draft, remove all the picks made in the first 3 or 4 rounds and go. Doesn't seem to be overly much interest in doing other drafts at this point.

 

What are these... Drafts... Of which thou speakest?

 

All the other ones that have been tossed around but no action taken. M&TV, Wrestling, Anime, Mythology, Pokemon.

 

I'm good with comics again, but I say we cut EVERYONE that was drafted last time. Give me a draft where Tony Stark is a legit first round pick

I could go for that as well. I guess it comes down to who is going to volunteer to run the show.

 

Uh yeah and while we're, uh, discussing this... Looking for a few good men for my fantasy hockey league, currently drafting next Saturday at 12 noon. Any takers?

If no one volunteers before then, I'll run a comics draft after the current basketball draft is done
