Looking forward to the next sports related draft, whenever everyone wants to do one. I know we have the comic one going right now, but would love to do a sports one sometime soon. I was looking at the threads of the previous drafts and it looks like a lot of fun.

Comic Book Draft at high power but not Galactus/Eternity cosmic level?

 

We did that the previous version.

I think I am leaning towards VG. I suppose it depends on whether or not I can get judges.

I'll run a game with whichever gets the most volunteers, so just let me know if you'd like to judge VG or animated (or MTV even) and I'll update all of the lists just in case.

 

Of the two I could do a half assed job of judging the MTV, VG not at all.

 

I'd rather play vg, but I can judge it.

you really wouldn't jordan... there are soooooooo many problems with that power level. >_<

 

What about if we lower it to Silver Surfer or even Superman level and below?

 

There really isn't a problem with those power levels, just requires more research. Seeing as how little research/studying some judges did this time around I could see where the perception of more power = more problems comes from though.

Having judged many drafts I know first hand that the moment you get complacent with it you start making asinine calls, no person who has ever judged is exempt from that.

That holds true in every draft, at every level of power.

 

i'm just remembering exactly how many complaints and irritations there were pertaining to those higher power levels specifically. everyone always says it'll be fine, and the exact same problems crop up every time, consistently, and everyone is like we really shouldn't open up this can of worms again. two or three drafts later they always do. while i wasn't in most of them, i've gone back and read through most of them, and it was consistent.

but not up to me. i'll help with a VG draft if there's problems finding a third judge, but i'm probably not going to be involved in anything else honestly.

 

I have been in all of them, and that isn't really accurate. A few people always complained (usually the same people), the majority didn't. People did complain about inconsistent judging though, always have, that is regardless of the level of power involved.

Most of the issues have always revolved around what is considered "peak" or "sustained". The exact level of power those terms referred to doesn't matter, in fact we had the exact same issues in the last draft where the top end power levels were limited.
