CT Disney (or Somebody Else) Buying 20TH Century Fox??

Wouldn't that be something. Imagine having the OT back the way it should be... !

This would have next to nothing to do with that.

As far as Star Wars goes Disney already owns all six original movies. Distribution rights for TESB, ROTJ and the prequels will revert to Disney from FOX around 2020.

The one thing as far as Star Wars they would get is distribution for ANH which is held in perpetuity by FOX. All that really means in the end is that the Fox Fanfare is at the start of ANH and not the other 5 movies.

 

Disney owning Fox would be significant. Very significant.

 

Is this true or just a rumor?

People so obsessed with the prospect of getting specific versions of movies that they like that they're uncritically cheerleading a corporate behemoth even further consolidating its media monopoly.

 

They still wouldn't get said versions, not sure why anyone even jumped to that conclusion.

 

The talks aren't dead, guys. They'll be back at it within the next few months.

I would welcome Disney's involvement in Sky plc if it ended the Murdoch's ideological crusade against the BBC.

 

I'm no industry analyst, but if I think the chances of this happening are higher than not. FOX has been trying to get bought out for a few years (remember when WB tried to buy them?), and Disney is honestly the only company who could really do it. I believe a few analysts were even saying something like this the day the news broke.

 

God, no. Don't let this happen. Soon Disney will own Hollywood and the only thing in theaters will be Disney movies.

I don't have to imagine. I've already had it the way it's supposed to be on Blu-ray since 2011. *insert unnecessary exclamation mark*

 

Ironically the Star Wars Saga is about to come true. Disney will become as powerful as the trade federation and begin blockading countries that are part of the U.N.
