I don't know why people keep saying "Disney this" and "Disney that," as if Iger is going to be making creative decisions.

oh come on.. why not use a veteran who's been a General since before the Clone Wars! Super Bombad General Jar Jar Binks got experience, especially if paired with a certain by now hopefully highranking Lepi Admiral

No -- Senator Binks is of far too esteemed a rank to be a mere general officer once more. He's a war hero and a statesman, so he has to be Chief of State.

He likely only lost to Daala by 2 votes... [face_whistling]

I bet all of you $10 that Jar Jar has a cameo at the Senator from Naboo in the new Republic. Mark me folks, it will happen.

Obviously a Binks origin film is in order.

Pablo actually just posted today a repost of his hunt for the Fake Wedge.

It mentions there that David Ankrum was the voice of both Wedges in ANH.

Hey, hypothetical question: if Jania Solo isn't in the ST at all, but it's not mentioned that she does not exist, and there's a novel published that is "Jania Solo And Her Wacky ST Adventures", which explains why she's not mentioned, why she's not there, what she is doing, etc., to make her fit into the ST, would you accept it? I'd be totally fine with that, actually. It's an official Star Wars novel after all, even if it has a really bad title.

That's actually how I'm hoping any major EU/ST overlap can be handled.

I'm thinkin' that's how it'll roll. the EU doesn't do many "not canon" labels, it's more retcon, retcon, retcon. Heck, even stuff people thought was not canon like the Marvel run suddenly had a character pop up in the novel series.

    Ditto.

Going by the PT's example, it's the most likely situation anyway, as we didn't exactly see that many OT characters in the PT, but Han Solo was still obviously born and doing something somewhere, not flash grown in a tank in between the PT and OT.

To some extent, I wouldn't actually be hugely surprised if we only saw Luke, as while they might still want to make the films the "Skywalker Saga", the focus will inevitably be on new protagonists, but if you make everybody family it limits what character dynamics you can have (no love triangles, etc), so they might want to keep things simpler with just Luke and child.

After all, if Han had showed up in the PT, I'm not really sure what Lucas could even have done with him beyond it just feeling like a gratuitous cameo that had little direct significance to Anakin and Padme's relationship or Palpatine's machinations.

I'll bet that there will be Jar Jar... and he will be killed during his first scene in the most spectacular way possible. And everyone in the theater is going to stand up and applause.

The current rumor mill, which is always always right, is suggesting that the Boba Fett film could take place between ANH-ESB or ESB-ROTJ. I'm not so thrilled with that idea; if Fett carries a whole film, I would think a younger, more vulnerable Fett would be much better (then again, they do still have Morrison to play Fett, so might as well take advantage of that). Needless to say, I hope it's not between ESB and ROTJ. It looks like even the Fett film could be threatening to canon

Cue sweeping John Williams score :p

If there is a Fett film, I demand that he does not speak during the film. [face_not_talking]

(And after two hours of Yoda talk, having a film where the main character doesn't speak at all will be welcome. :p)

If they do a Yoda movie, I maintain it should essentially be Dark Rendezvous The Movie: have a main cast of characters, either his fellow padawans or his students (depending on how early it is), but have Yoda be the guiding influence and voice of reason. That way, he still gets to be awesome without having so much screen presence he becomes annoying.

For Fett, I could live with a dark times movie, I could live with a movie between ANH and ESB, I just don't want it to overwrite Shadows of the Empire, especially because there are better places to put a Fett movie anyway. It's not like you can star Han in it or anything, he's locked up in carbonite.

Not really a fan. Embrace the EU or throw it in the garbage, but this kind of half-hearted blending? I'll pass.

    Say hello the retcon that he was defrosted, then frozen again just before ROTJ! 8-}
