Ooh, maybe you can help me with my ongoing dilemma.

To watch Battlefield Earth, or to not watch it? From the clips I've seen, it looks absolutely hilarious and worth a watch. Does it keep that campiness up through the entire film, or is it just long stretches of boredom spliced up with truly cringe worthy and hilarious scenes?

Just because you like and respect them doesn't absolve them of foolish opinions.

And to be honest, most people I like and respect have mostly shrugged their shoulders at the news about the new movies; they don't follow the EU, but aren't particularly interested in watching any new Star Wars either.

I haven't watched it since theaters, but there is a lot of camp there, though it's not a constant barrage as they do try to take it seriously many times (though they often fail). They try to at least hit ID4-levels of camp/drama balance but fall far short of that.

It is an absolute train wreck. Fortunately I didn't have to waste any money to get to see it...

Sad part is Darth Boba is the only one who posts there who isn't a manchild

I couldn't get more than half an hour into it before throwing in the towel. It's just unpleasant to watch. The filmmaking is so incoherent it causes mental strain just trying to figure out what's going on, the cinematography makes you want to throw up, the characters are unpleasant ciphers who shout at you constantly and you really wish they'd stop, and everything is either puke grey or bright green.

And this is coming from a guy who watches Starcrash, Plan Nine From Outer Space, Troll 2 and other such bad movies over and over again for fun. So take that for whatever it's worth. I'm not saying you won't enjoy it. I'm just saying that you'd better be ready.

Watch Birdemic if you haven't. It. Will. Blow. Your. Mind.

I do find really terrible movies fascinating, in their own way. Sometimes a truly awful movie stays with me more than a great one. Sometimes an awful movie has more to teach you about writing than a great movie. I might have to check it out.

Don't forget the Harrier jets (and sims!) that are still apparently airworthy after a thousand years in an irradiated environment.

I can't stress this enough - Rifftrax. Especially for Birdemic.

I've never seen a Rifftrax, though I like the few Mystery Science Theater's I've seen. Maybe Birdemic should be my first.

On second thought: Birdemic or the Star Wars Holiday Special?

I once swore I would never see Batman and Robin ever. After watching it with Rifftrax, I've seen it like a dozen times.

Watch the samples at rifftrax.com, and when you watch Bella being carried through the forest to the strains of Yakety Sax, your heart is stone if don't laugh.

Starcrash was pretty decent after drinking a bottle of vodka with orange juice. Man I haven't seen that movie in a long time.

My favorite line: "I hope you can swim, Mr. Bane!"

My favorite topical line - during the pointless "race" that Robin and Batgirl participate in for what seems like five hours - "I want to call up Podracing and apologize"
