At least we'll be getting games after the lack of them for the past 4 years. And I was skeptical of LucasArts and Star Wars: 1313. I don't trust EA that much, but I trust DICE enough that we'll be getting some quality games

I think everybody would have preferred if LEC continued at the level it had in the past, but -- speaking just for myself here -- it wasn't. I'm sorry that wishes can't be unicorns, but they can't. And frankly, LEC has pulled some of the same crap that EA has too (remember KOTOR2?).

EA's a crappy publisher. LEC was not much better. Yes, we all like LEC's development but as a content publisher they were full of jerk executives just like any other.

But hey, don't let reality get in the way of your rose colored glasses.

Care to unpack that for me, because it just looks like paranoid speculation that hasn't actually come to fruition.

Seconded. I realize that the deal was probably months (or longer) in the works, but did Disney pay attention to what happened with Sim City, a "free money" franchise that EA managed to royally muck up? Or their pathetic Steam "rival", Origin?

So: LEC's allowed to be a crappy game publisher so long as the in-house development guys are nice, but EA is objectionable because... it's a crappy game publisher despite the developers it owns also being nice?

That's where the rose colored glasses thing comes in. LEC was not a good publisher. We spent years complaining about how the executives were screwing things over -- cancelling good games, laying off staff, delaying and/or rushing things without good reasons.

EA's not an improvement -- but you seem to be acting as if we've somehow moved to a worse publisher, whereas EA's executives are guilty of all the same things LEC's executives were.

And that's my point: I don't like EA, but somehow being critical of LEC's record as a publisher means that we ought to have seen this coming? Really? See: Havac's crushed hopes for reasons why this wasn't/shouldn't have been the expected result.

Correct -- but I think you'll find that arguing with a wall has its merits when it's the other people listening that you hope to convince, not said wall which is not terribly liable to be convinced. The wall is just a convenient thing on which is graffiti'd the argument with which I disagree :p

Hands up if you think Coop and Esg are secretly having an affair, and the antagonism is all smoke and mirrors?

    *raises hand*

Well... darn. I thought there'd be more of us.

    I like his gifs.:(

And I like your thread topics.:(

So both of you stop fighting or I shall set set you both on "ignore" forevermore. [face_not_talking]

Now let's concentrate our firepower on plans EA hasn't started planning yet.

To be fair, all I said, in essence, was "don't argue with Esg". [face_whistling]

I literally don't give a steaming pile of Whaladon dung what Star Wars games they make or who makes them, as long as Obsidian get their shot to make their Dark Times game. Every other Star Wars game made from now til' the end of time could star Rosh Penin in a game composed of entirely escort missions, with Jar Jar Binks as the escorted, for all I care.

Yeah, it was called "Episode I: The Video Game". And no, that's not a joke.

No kidding Havac, other than the thought of DICE potentially developing Battlefront III, I am not liking this, not one bit.

I actually liked the Episode 1 game . [face_blush] Granted, I had just graduated the second grade.
