Peoples who work for the mouse, please help me settle a debate:

The Beast from Beauty and the Beast: is he a Prince or not.

Even though the entire opening monologue calls him a prince a bunch of times, my friend is adament that he's not actually a prince.

Yes he is. They say it at the beginning of the film. He is considered a prince. Now for whatever reason he is always "the Beast" when in the park (I've never seen a 'face character' of him) but he is a prince. A very handsome one too.

Wasn't he such cruel prince most considered him to be a beast?

I think the following script excerpt should setting the Beauty and the Beast matter. Remember, folks, THIS IS CANON. Take it literally. There is no reading between the lines. It is black and white. Crystal Clear. Here we go:

Once upon a time, in a faraway land,
A young Prince lived in a shining castle.
Although he had everything his heart desired,
The Prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind.
    But then, one winter's night,
An old beggar woman came to the castle
And offered him a single rose In return for shelter from the bitter cold.
    Repulsed by her haggard appearance,
The Prince sneered at the gift,
And turned the old woman away.
But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances,
    For Beauty is found within.
And when he dismissed her again,
The old woman's ugliness melted away
    To reveal a beautiful Enchantress.
The Prince tried to apologize, but it was too late,
For she had seen that there was no love in his heart.
    And as punishment,
She transformed him into a hideous beast,
And placed a powerful spell on the castle,
    And all who lived there.
    Ashamed of his monstrous form,
The beast concealed himself inside his castle,
With a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world.
    The Rose she had offered,
    Was truly an enchanted rose,
Which would bloom for many years.
If he could learn to love another,
And earn her love in return
By the time the last petal fell,
Then the spell would be broken.
If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast
    For all time.
    As the years passed,
He fell into despair, and lost all hope,
For who could ever learn to love...a Beast?

The debate came up from actual history, where French feudal lords would be considered a "prince" even though they weren't by blood. :p

Yesterday we went to Disneyland for the day. We saw the Golden Horseshoe Revue for the first time and the flag retirement ceremony. It was really nice. Crowded but nice.

It wasn't terrible. I guess if we really wanted to do all of the attractions then we'd be upset but since we just wanted to hang out we were fine. I did see your former boss, I wish I could think of a name for him, on Star Tours, APL. The line on Nemo was way too long for me to really want to stay. We could have stayed longer but I wanted to get home to take care of the dogs.

I'm going to Walt Disney World Florida in 6 days...I'll be staying on property in a few different hotels including the Contemporary. What I long to see will be Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom! Can't wait!

Walt Disney World is awesome! I was impressed with the entire resort when I was there a couple of years ago. I'm sure you'll have a good time APL. Will you be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge? That place was cool, that's where we stayed. We open the back window and saw giraffes and zebra. I just went to Tokyo Disney Sea, next to Tokyo Disneyland. I would try to compare it to California Adventure, but it's really no comparison. Disney Sea is much much better, the only thing they have in common is Tower of Terror, except it's not Twilight Zone based in Japan. The level of attention to detail at Disney Sea is amazing.

Sorry I never posted back on this SR. It's sad that your friend knows that stuff. A PA is a Performance Assesment. It's the final test after training on a ride. It's probably one of the dumbest questions because obviously the guy passed his PA so he's working the ride. What an uppity "i think i'm an insider" question. IT shows you either worked in the park before, or you're an ultra-nerd for knowing what it is.

I do not get treated like a god. In fact the only thing remotely close to that is people liking my Buzz Lightyear jacket so much they want to buy it off me. Or the occasional foreign tourist that takes a picture with me (very very rare). He got to go backstage? He thought that was cool?

Let me just tell everyone, it's no show backstage. Going onstage to offstage is like going from Beverly Hills to Compton. It's ugly, dirty and boring.

And JR, I would love to go to Tokyo. One bad thing about it though, Cast Members do not get in free there. Every other resort in the world, we get in for free. But not in Japan. I have no clue why. :(

The other resorts aren't owned by Disney.

When do the Christmas decorations come down?

We had hoped to go to Florida this year but because of the various trips planned for the summer it's not going to be possible. Have fun, APL! Send me a postcard if you get a chance.

Read a few reports Johnny Depp and Harrison Ford were spotted at the park this weekend. Did anyone see them?

    No word that I know.

I'll be at the park on Saturday (I think). Depends on how I feel.

I didn't go yesterday. Didn't feel like it. My head is all messed up due to allergies I think.
