Amph Disney's "Maleficent: The Untold Story"... coming to theaters in 2014

A live-action prequel to the old Disney movie, from the perspective of the villain!

I think I might have preferred a remake for the dragon transformation scene alone.

 

It looks like it's going to start with Maleficent as a kid, but include the events of Sleeping Beauty too, since they've cast Princess Aurora and the Prince. But the events from the old movie will now be from Maleficent's point of view.

Yeah.

 

I'm not a huge fan of Angelina Jolie. That said, I love Sleeping Beauty, so I"m pretty excited about this

 

Yeah, this could be an awesome movie

Maleficent has to be the best Disney Villain of all time (only Jafar in Aladdin, Frollo in Hunchback of Notre Dame, & the Devil himself in Fantasia even come close)... and one of the best villains ever. I'm so excited for this movie, used to love watching it again and again as a kid!

 

It better be a freaking blue dress.

 

I'm generally not into these "from the villain's point of view" post-modern retakes on classic stories. But this one actually sound interesting to me.

You can see it five nights a week at Disney-MGM studios.

Only she fights Mickey instead.

EDIT -- Hmm. Looks like the video I posted was from Disneyland instead. Figures, as I had never seen MGM's dragon look so impressive.

TDO needs to get on the ball and leave the Chinese parade dragons for Epcot center.

 

Fantasmic's new Dragon is amazing. I don't even miss the old Glitter Fabric dragon.

I mean, come on. This thing has 1 minute to come up out of nowhere and be constructed.





Mickey's also about 5'6, just for scale.



At any rate, I am super excited for this film.

 

Pfft. Jafar tolerates having Gilbert Gottfried as a sidekick. That's pure and utter evil, right there.

 

So...this movie is pretty much the same as Wicked?

I'm almost surprised this isn't a Burton film.

I'm not, because it looks good.

 

Sleeping Beauty was my favorite movie as a kid. I remember watching it over and over the same way kids nowadays watch Finding Nemo

That said, I can see how Angelina has the looks to be cast as Maleficent but I'm not sure she will pull it off convincingly. I hope she doesn't come up with a ridiculous fake accent again. Regardless, I'm excited about this and will probably drag the husband to the movies to watch it.

 

Unfortunately, it has always been my policy to never see movies where Juno Temple plays a character named Thistletwit.

People used to say "silly policy," and admittedly it hasn't come up a whole lot previously, but here's where it really proves its value.

 

God I hope Jolie isn't over-the-top "NO WIRE HANGERS EVER" Faye Dunawayesque like Charlize was in Snow White.
