The more cast announcements they make for Han Solo (and following on from Rogue One) it appears that there's less and less foot-stamping to be done in this thread.

When it comes to ethnic/sexual diversity in films, not just the Star Wars films, the only thing that matters is whether it feels natural. So far, Lucasfilm has done a great job at that, both before and after the Disney buyout.

Sometimes, this sort of thing doesn't feel natural. There are some movies out there, like the Harold and Kumar movies or the 2016 Ghostbusters movie, where it feels less like natural diversity and more like an attempt to get payback at some group they see as the majority(white people, men, etc.). Those films frequently make fun of certain characters simply because they are white or simply because they are male. The Force Awakens and Rogue One had very diverse casts, and I never once felt like they were trying to stick it to the white man.

I'm sure that even in TFA and R1, there was a corporate board meeting that discussed what races the characters should be and used forced racial quotas for their criteria. That's just how marketing works. You have to do what sells. In the end though, the screenwriters did a great job at not letting any of that show in the films themselves. The writing is what it will all boil down to for the upcoming films like The Last Jedi and the Han Solo film. There's not a whole lot you can do visually to make it look more or less natural. Diversity itself is natural. The real world is diverse. The challenge comes in writing the script in a way so that it doesn't convey some kind of social agenda behind it.

And still the toxic manbabies will complain about women taking over Star Wars onscreen and behind the screens.

    OT - Luke, Han, Leia
    PT - Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme
Clone Wars - Ahsoka, Anakin, Obi-Wan
ST - Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren
Rebels - Ezra, Kanan, Hera, Sabine, Zeb
Rogue One - Jyn, Cassian, Chirrut, Baze, Bodhi, etc.
    Solo - Han, etc.
    Kenobi - Obi-Wan, etc.

    That's barely anything!

    The pressing question.
Will the lead female in the Obi Wan spinoff be a young Caucasian British brunette?

Young Luke: "Aunt Beru, why does old Ben always come around when Uncle Owen's not here, to help you with stuff in the den?"

Beru: "Shush now! And don't tell your uncle about such things."

    Young Luke: "Yes, ma'am."

"Foot-stamping". Way to denigrate diversity talks.

Yeah, who will be "White Brunette no.6" ?

You can talk about being a prime example of something. Are you still pressed by people calling Finn a co-protagonist?

Well, supposedly blondes were what caught Kenobi's interest - Siri, Satine...though there was a blue-haired female Jedi in a non-canon novel....

I want the blue-haired female Jedi in this film.

Or Annileen Calwell. They could probably make her any race they choose, as I don't think her race was specified or described.
