Do ghosts/spirits exist?

The entities viewed as ghosts and spirits probably exist. Whether they actually are the spirits of the dead is the questionable part, in my opinion.

Not sure either way, the agnostic in me demands such an answer.

In my experience strange things can usually be explained away through natural phenomena, and as I have yet to visibly witness a ghost in action or see irrefutable proof of the existance of one I cannot commit to knowing they exist.

Nor can I claim that I know they do not exist, for there are constantly things in this world that we are discovering for the first time. So you never know, tomorrow someone could possibly come up with a way to prove they do in fact exist.

Yes, pretty sure. I think there is something out there, at least, but I don't know what. There are some places that makes me feel really good and some places that makes me feel really uncomfortable. There are even places that always gives me a headache. I don't think it's just a coincident, I think there's something more to those places than just meets the eye.

 

Yep spirits definatly exist. Ghosts? Nope, I don't think so.
But spirits, yes.
I used to feel them wispering lies in my ear, about how rubbish I was. (or so they said.)
(they also delight in half truths as well)
Thankfully I prayed, and have never had them visit me since.

 

As a Christian I believe in God and He is a spirit!

Not sure either way. There are some pretty amazing instances, but I've never had any direct experience myself. I truly can't say one way or the other.

Yes, pretty sure: I work in a haunted building, it's a real eyeopener when machines that are disconnected from the mains turn themselves on and you see objects move by themselves. Used to make me nervous, not so much now, figured that whatever it is that does this (and a few other pant-wettingly unnerving things) just wants you to know it's there.
However, I was shutting the place down alone one night, and heard the only door to the room I work in, unlock, open, close again, followed by footsteps that lead down the hall, when I looked into the hall, there was no one there - I left in a bit of a hurry that night!

I don't know... It's kind of a complex issue I guess. How do you define "exist"?

If someone experiences something... A sign from a loved one, or something of that nature, then perhaps it would only be perceivable to the individual in question anyhow. It's a matter of personal experience, I think. Something that exists to one person may not exist to another, depending on how you define it.

By a strict, traditional definition, it's hard to say. Something obviously exists, as people wouldn't see it otherwise. Whether it's a sentient being, a mindless apparition of something which existed in the past, or simply a mental disturbance, it's still something.

There are alot of theories as to what "ghosts" could be, and I tend to be more of the opinion that if they are the remaining energy of passed loved ones, they're probably not sentient. Maybe apparitions are a type of psychic imprint left in an area.

On the other hand, my brother in law actually knew a family who had a ghost in their house, and it was a very active one. They would come home to find meals cooked and ready on the stove.

All in all, I think that the question itself is far more important than any specific answer. Simply the fact that people are seeking answers I think is what's most important. That people are questioning and thinking on the subject. From a certain point of view I think you could say that ghosts exist simply by virtue of the impact they've had on society.
