Do movie reviews determine whether or not you'll see a movie?

Why would I need someone else's opinion as to what they think of a movie, everyone has different likes and dislikes, different opinions? If I think a movie looks like one I would enjoy, I watch it, and if I'm wrong, well, there goes 2 hours of my life, big deal.

Never. I go to cinema about once in every two years, so I have to be interested in it anyway.

"Sometimes" and this option are very similar, and hard to choose between because they both occur, but I'm thinking more on this one. For instance, I trust IMDb a lot when it comes to movies. I've found that I tend to agree with the majority of the ratings they have for movies. I always tend to check it out before seeing a movie. Other reviewers, like in the weekly paper, I read and take in, but I don't really like her reviews. But in a general perspective, it is also "sometimes"; take for example the movie Eragon. I was interested in seeing it. And then it came out; to horrible reviews. Everywhere. So I stuck to waiting for the DVD. I'm almost just going with the simple answer of "Yes" now....

 

I trust the (British movie mag) Empire reviews pretty much completely. If I'm thinking of seeing a movie, four stars from Empire and I'm there. If I'm wavering, two stars says I'm staying at home. I haven't yet gone to see anything solely because it had a good review.

Sometimes. If I'm on the fence about seeing a movie, I'll pay a little more attention to reviews. If it's something I really want to see, I'll usually still go even if the reviews are awful.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on the movie and the strength of the reviews being released, if they are strongly trashing the film and it seems correct I will skip a movie.

 

No, because I end up liking the movies that the critics hate. I can't even go by what my friends say. Everybody loved Lord of the Rings, I on other hand hated it.

 

Sometimes, if a movie looks questionable then a review will determine if I go see it.

It depends on the reviewer, but sometimes that won't stop me from seeing a movie, if I really want to see it..

 

Nope, never. Reviews are never accurate

 

I read a fair number of reviews... and there are some reviewers with whom I have built a reader's relationship with. Having agreed or disagreed with their reviews over a long period of time and lots of copy, I can certainly use their opinion to help form my own.
