I am just wondering why it seems as though Yoda and Mace always refer to Anakin as "Skywalker" or, "Young Skywalker" throughout the PT.

Yet, they do call Obi-Wan, "Obi-Wan" or sometimes "Master Obi-wan" as well as "Master Kenobi".

If it is true, does it mean they have always kind of held Anakin at a distance, without even realizing it? It seems so "cold" and formal to only use his last name, especially as he was so young. Why would their relationship lack warmth with him, considering he grew up with them? Only Obi-Wan addresses him with any warmth, I never once heard him refer to Anakin as "Skywalker". It seems kind of dismissive, or something. And When talking to Obi-Wan in AOTC, Mace says "Where is your apprentice", as though he just will not speak his name unless he has to!

SO do you think there is a reason for this, or is it a fluke, or am I just imagining this? I can accept it if I am. LOL.

Strilo edit: You are imagining it, as the lines quoted below show.

I had never noticed that. In contrast, Palpatine calls him "my son" and "my friend". Only in the end does Kenobi refer to him as being like "a brother." Too late. Who does he end up with? Not Kenobi. If Yoda had expressed directly to Anakin the concern he felt when he sensed Skywalker's terrible pain, then perhaps Anakin would have sought elsewhere, with fellow Jedi, in some solace. But no, attachment is forbidden, whatever one's definition of compassion may be.

"Careful you must be when sensing the future, Anakin. The fear of loss is a path to the Dark Side."

"Anakin, We will deal with Count Dooku. The most important thing for you is to stay where you are. Protect the senator at all costs. That is your first priority."

Thanks for the quotes! Interesting that they do call him Anakin then, for some reason it never registered with me. I guess I inadvertantly have more in my mind the times when they are all discussing him then, when it seems like they are always saying "Skywalker" and Obi-Wan is always saying "Anakin". But if they do call him Anakin to his face then it is not as bad as I thought.

Palpatine, good point about Palpatine! He never seemed to miss an opportunity to warm Anakin up to him.

Aswell as the 2 mentioned times above:

Mace: Anakin, escort the Senator back to her home planet of Naboo. She'll be safer there. And don't use registered transport. Travel as refugees

Qui-Gon referred to him as Anakin, of course.
